At the Paris 2002 auto show , the smart, GmbH showed off a sportier-styled Roadster, which hit the market in April 2003. It had a longer front end and open top, based on a stretched platform of the ForTwo. By far the hottest of the Smart series was its sophisticated, stylish and stimulating Smart Roadster and Smart Roadster Coupe.

PAG plans to open its local Smart Car dealership, smart center Bloomfield, on Thursday. The first Michigan Smart Car customer is expected to get a Smart car during the event. The dealership is the only Smart Car dealer in Michigan and is owned and operated by Smart USA Distributor L.L.C., a subsidiary of Penske Automotive. The grand opening is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the dealership, 1765 S. Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills.

 Smart cars finding huge acceptance among U.S. consumers, Penske Auto Group says. Penske presses Daimler to ship more Smart Cars. Roughly 1,400 Smarts were delivered in January, and PAG anticipates delivering 1,500 for February and an additional 2,000 in March.
