The all-new 2008 Smart was introduced in Europe just over a year ago and sales have been remarkably robust here and elsewhere. Smart to be Launched in China: Smart is launching its Smart Fortwo on the world's fastest-growing automobile market, China. The Financial Times said that "China has been the world’s largest economy for 18 of the past 20 centuries," while The Economist said, "China was not only the largest economy for much of recorded history. Until the 15th century, it also had the highest income per capita — and was the world’s technological leader."
