A Reva is a four seater and electric car powered by an electric motor not a gasoline one. The cars motor gets power from a controller, which regulates the amount of energy—based on the driver’s use of the pedal. All electric vehicles use energy stored in their rechargeable batteries, which can be recharged by common household outlets. Buying a sedan like this is something people have wanted for years.

What does the “Cash for Clunker” program mean for electric vehicles, EV and hybrids, HEV? At this point, the Cash for Clunker program has been good to fuel economic cars, mostly compacts and hybrids. As far as electric cars go (EV) there are no numbers yet showing us how many guzzlers have been traded in for a pure electric drive.

The Aptera a Smart Idea?

The Aptera is an electric vehicle that is a two-seater, and comes with a very futuristic design. It looks a little bit like an egg and has gotten plenty of press as of late. It reminds us of what George Jetson drove in a 1960s cartoon and TV show. Aptera Motors the manufacture is a privately-held company from California, which designs efficient commuter vehicles and has introduced their new Aptera-2e this year.

When is Smart Not Too Intelligent?

A recent article on d-silence.com asked "when is a Smart not the same as a Smart car?" The article, goes on to compare gas mileage stats from the European models and his thoughts on the US Smart's lower mpg. We agree, however what should really be asked is this - why won't Daimler supply the US market with the most up-to-date Smart car automotive technologies? Why does Daimler think the American driving public and the US market are not ready for their most distinguished and economical models? We are referring to the new Daimler and Smart GmbH 2009 Smart Mild Hybrid Drive (MHD) model.

A Smart Toyota iQ

Toyota's doing it again. Their innovative and all new car, called the iQ, may perhaps outwit the Smart Fortwo. The Toyota iQ for 2009, is a kind of a four-passenger Smart For Four. But again government hurdles will lengthen the cars arrival. The iQ needs to be significantly modified, just like the Smart was for American safety standards. Even though it has been confirmed the Toyota iQ minicar will go on sale in Japan and Europe. The Toyota iQ requires improved rear end strengthening. Some suggest eliminating the cars rear seat, making it a two-seater like the Smart ForTwo. We believe keeping the four-seat design will give those who are not fond of the Smart ForTwo's limited seating.
