Larger automotive manufacturers are making ineffective attempts to go greener and become more fuel efficient. One of the latest to the arena is Renault. Renault is a French automaker who announced they too are working on an EV city car. Reports are they hope to have their city car on the road by 2012 and their goal is to have their electric car ready for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Renault also, announced they anticipated having their electric vehicles in Israel by 2011.

At the time, we believed this car could be part of the solution to what we believed was ahead of us all - $4.00-a-gallon gas. Mitsubishi will be testing our response to their all-electric car at the up coming International Auto Show in New York. Mitsubishi has been researching their iMiEV since 2005. The four-door Mitsubishi iMiEV can travel over 80 miles on a full charge. The iMiEV is smaller than a subcompact, about the size of a four-door Smart car.

Israeli government becomes the electric car's biggest supporter. Early this year the Israeli Cabinet agreed to tax new vehicles on their emissions levels. Allowing biggest tax breaks to go to zero-emissions cars. While a 7-cent a gallon tax break for E85 was allowed to expire without action from the Michigan state legislature. With Michigan's financial situation they won't be in any hurry to restore the tax break.
