Alternative Vehicles
obvio_smart_zap.jpg In June 17, 1998, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recognized these as official forms of transportation. Low Speed and Neighborhood Electric Vehicles are designed for drivers traveling short distances. These are not Hybrids. They are truly an electric car. They are a cost-effective remedy to traffic, parking, and air pollution concerns

Like a full-size LSV, an NEV is a zero emission vehicle and produces no tailpipe or evaporative emissions; however, it can recharge by simply plugging into a standard 110-volt outlet.ev-bluetruck.jpg

Low speed vehicles (LSV) are undersized, four-wheeled vehicles that are manufactured to exact federal vehicle standards.

A low-speed vehicle must be equipped with: head lights, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, tail lamps, reflex reflectors, parking brake, rear view mirror-exterior, rear view mirror-interior , windshield, windshield wiper, speedometer, odometer, braking for each wheel; seat belts, and vehicle identification numbers.

Dealers and other businesses in the industry must be licensed by the DMV.

LSV’s may operate on public streets where the posted speed limit is no more than 35 miles per hour. The driver must possess a valid driver's license.

The majority of our daily travel consists of a single occupant that drives short distances on local roads at speeds below 35mph.

Low Speed, Neighborhood and Electric Vehicles are 35% - 97% cleaner than a comparable gas car, including the pollution generated by the electric power plant. The 35% number pertains to states employing "dirty" power, such as coal-fired plants. The 97% number applies to states like California that use "clean" power, including hydro, nuclear, wind, and solar.
The United States Government is promoting the use of alternative fuels through numerous programs.

With political and social uncertainties mounting in the Middle East, China's demand for oil escalating daily, and a few other suppliers in pandemonium. The prospect for lower gasoline prices appears dim at best.

All indicators point to limited price cuts then higher and higher prices.
We believe this analysis concerning alternative transportation will assist you in making a clear and wise decision, regarding your needs.
