Suzanne Sammut, a SCOA member and author who resides in Corona, CA. sent us this great little editorial. Suzanne likens her bond to her new Smart, like that of a parent has to a child. Suzanne enlightens us about the enjoyment of "Smarthood" and the pleasure she gets when cruising about in her new baby!
She fell in love with the Smart 4 years ago while visiting Italy and
knew eventually she would have one when availalble in the USA and
her dream has come true!
Suzanne tells us…
“Last week my 5 month old SmartCar was about to turn 10,000 miles. You know what that means.... time for this little jewel to have its first oil change.
WOW that arrived fast. The saying is true, "time flies when you are having fun."
Just like a “parent” I made the appointment at the dealership and brought in my “baby book.” It was a flashback of the days when I use to take my daughter to the pediatrician for her check up and shots.
We may not all have the same dealership, but we do have the same excellent product. I knew when I left that day that my decision still holds true. I have a quality product.
Extending this knowledge and sharing it with the “curious” has been fun too! Pulling into a gas station that was once a quick errand is now a head turning event.
The first question that comes out of everyone's mouth is... “How many miles to the gallon do you get in that thing”. After they pick themselves up off the ground you can almost hear them sigh (or are they groaning?).
Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to your next destination. Those who were in doubt of the ability of this jewel became believers. You never know who you are going to meet or new friendships you will create.
Today was a perfect example by meeting up with “soon to be” owners for coffee. They too, behaving like a parent waiting for the delivery of their child or a Christmas gift they have been waiting for.
Excitement is sparkling in their eyes as they speak of the “anticipated arrival date.”
'Hey! Wanna get together for coffee next week?' is starting to sound like we are scheduling a “play date” for our cars, as we sit back and admire their uniqueness.
My own excitement of this great automobile still hasn't died out.
I can't help but smile knowing there are many more “first's” to come.
See you on the road!”
