This initial great commentary offers us first hand details regarding the purchase and the author's intelligent driving experiences. We will keep this chronicle, as well as all others, exactly as the members wrote them, word for word and personal. No editing or correction to the copy has been done.
There may be typographic errors and things could perhaps be phrased better. However, these are first person accounts written by average, every day people and they all have our genuine thanks.
Southern California will be a hub for these great cars and the first submission is from a Southern California Smart car owner. We hope you enjoy the first of what we hope, will be many articles to come.

Hi All ... I'm opening my own thread here for anyone who wants to see/read about the new adventures my Smartie (Gidgit) and I are going to experience. I'll be posting pics and stories here occasionally so feel free to view/read.
This will move to the San Diego sub-forum if it gets created (I just sent an e-mail to the admin asking). I'd prefer that any discussion just be about the adventures here within and not about SmartUSA, the dealer, parts, or any other outside topic. Thanks! roverallover
Here's my li'l girl - she was #3 off the lot in San Diego and a family portrait: (that's her big brother Ram in the background) Gidgit home for her first night.
Well this is day number one!! And off to the beach we go ... looks like the wetsuit bucket and my hot water jugs fit just fine.
I'm going to get the rubberized tray for the back though just in case something leaks...
Now for the board ... it's pretty small today so I'm taking my 7' 10" board. It fits perfect in the back of Ram so.... oh ... um ... doesn't quite fit. Ugh. Well I guess I kind of knew this was going to happen. Nothing that a bungy-cord doesn't take care of.
The back of the car is sooo cool - it's just like having a mini-mini-mini pickup truck...
Well ... the drive to the beach was fine - even with the hatch partially open, the noise wasn't bad.
Then again, Ram's a diesel ... so anything is quite to me! Surf was tiny, but this was more of a show-and-tell with the friends anyway.
They dug it ... the best comment was from my roomie: "When you get home, put a propeller under it and go mow the lawn."
This is the post-surf hot shower at the beach. I was hoping to find this tight little space to park in, but there was plenty of room today.
Funny how that works at 6:15 in the morning.
Well this afternoon was fun... bee-bopped my way on up to go visit my horse and take her for a spin around the block (not in the car!). Here they are posing together.
Steel (my Shire) decided she would rather go for a ride in the car than have me sit on her ... she's seen here trying to figure out just where she wants to sit.

Always safety-conscious, she checks the air-pressure:
Funny thing here (and don't ever tell her this) ... Steel weighs more than Gidgit!
