So a couple days ago I had a haircut appointment at 1:30. It was 1:00 and the place was 18 minutes away. Sounds like enough time to wash Gidget!
Scrub a dub dub and she was clean and dried (sorry - no pics ... I'll get scolded for washing her in the driveway ... but I did use a biodegradable soap and honestly I really didn't use much of that at all) and I was off to the haircutter's (ok - it's really a "salon" but I'm a guy. Gimme a little slack)
At 1:28 we pull up to the shop and guess what. Rock Star parking !!
I've been meaning to get pics of all the times we get Rock Star parking ... it happens a lot oddly enough. The store, bank, Costco, even in downtown La Jolla at night ... that time Gidget's diminutive size payed off as there was 8 feet of open curb ahead of a red zone right in front of Jose's.
You should have seen all the giggles from patrons waiting to eat as I pulled up and hopped out.
Evidently she was quite the talk in the restaurant/bar that evening. I'd love to have been in there but I was meeting someone around the corner. Let's just say I would have had a better time in Jose's with my little girl ...
Here's a funny co-inkidink ... I went in to get the haircut, sat down to wait and there was a Motor Trend mag. Guess what they had a big article on? Yup, the Fortwo ... when the questions started coming from the ladies in the shop, I just handed them the mag ... lol ... "here ya go - you can read all about it".
After the cut, I swung by mom and dad's place (they live nearby there). Time for more abuse ... yes, my parents live near by me (about 20 minutes away) and yes, I've had Gidget about 3 weeks now and drove over 1000 miles. and yes, I am now just getting over there to show them. I meant to get there sooner, but just too much going on.
I get there and, of course, pops isn't home. At least mom's there and she and I take Gidget over to my sister's place for a visit. No pics allowed of li'l sis but I did sneak one of mom as she was getting ready to drive Gidget off into the sunset ... or the nearest parked car if I don't show her how to drive it! (just kidding mom !! (she reads these ...))
Mom did really good and I didn't have to tell her anything other than where the window buttons were. She was amazed at how un-small it really felt inside and like the fact there wasn't a big long front-end on the car. At my sisters we let her tool around the block ... she liked it too (can you blame her?) and she enjoyed watching mom pull around in the little parking area when we left. We'll pull the one-lane u-turn next time.
I lag ... I know ... I've been harassed by several friends about Gidget's "blemish" from the garage incident. So I'll tell you that tonight I went out and cleaned her up. She's a very patient young lady and honestly I think the scuffs made her feel a little tomboyish so she could hang with Ram and the rest of the boyz.
It only took a few minutes with a basic kitchen sponge with the scrubby thingee on the back ... I used a blue one - I think it's a little more gentle than the green one. But who really knows ... not me that's for sure!
Patiently scrubbing:
Not a scuff, scrape, or blemish ...
We got our new plates today ... I was going to get personalized ones but I think the general populus would look at me funny if it had some form of "Gidget" on the plate. Most people wouldn't know that was the car's name so I opted to save the $90 a year and use it to buy some goodies for her.
Boring I know, sorry ...
Gidget gets a week off to chill in the garage ... time to head to the mountains and she just can't carry two people's snowboard gear, clothes, and food for a week. Plus Ram has cruise control .... and 4wd.
TO BE CONTINUED!
