Now at 15K I'm wondering if maybe I'd ought to be thinking more seriously about it. As I remember it, they said I could add the extended warranty anytime up to the deadline at the same price (which I don't remember). Anyone know if that is correct? Or if it might vary among dealers....and how much the extended warranty costs. The secret to resetting the service indicator on the 09 smart, not sure if this works with the 08 but this is the way the 09 is reset.



step 1: turnkey on, push left button twice
step 2: turnkey off
step 3: push left button and hold
step 4: while holding left button turnkey on
step 5: wait till 10,000 miles comes up then release left button.

there you have it straight from smart tech, I watched them do it on my smart to reset the indicator and took notes lol!

for some reason they made it very difficult to do it without a few hit and misses, at first if you don’t succeed try and try again.

but this is how you reset your service indicator

While in a parking lot, he saw a bunch of teenagers walk past a smart, then picked it up and turned it around in it's parking space. He waited for the owner to come out, and when she did, all she said was, "Not again !!"

When I countered that the smart is kinda heavy and damn near everything "grabbable" is made of plastic, I doubt it happened. He swears he saw it.

I called it BS.

This is just my opinion. Two new criteria, ESP and roof crush strength, are smart strong points, and as the article points out smart is one of the few makes to receive an "acceptable" rating for its bumpers (no car has received a "good" rating yet.)

I have a Comet SBB-5 and a Comet EM-5M lip mount. I saw several postings about mounting to the trim below the windshield on the passengers side. Any new advice on using this location? How did you get your antenna wire into the interior, a hole thru the frame or routed around the door jamb?

I plan to mount my radio behind the drivers seat.

Looking forward to having my Ham radio in my Smart.

Sometimes when I start up my car my radio will be on, then when I ignite the engine, it will turn off then turn back on. Other times it may stay on the whole time and the tunes keep coming.

This is not about me wanting my radio turned off...the question is:

Does the amount of power left in the battery determine this or is it the temperature of the engine.
