Anyone willing to let me drive their smart for a couple days? [Boston area]
So I've been looking at Smarts for a while and talked to Umer at the Somerville smart center, but I have two problems...
1) I want to take the passion for a test drive with my girlfriend in the car, but Herb Chambers won't let me. I'm hoping that I could rent or borrow a smart from somewhere to take it for a ride.
2) I've test driven the passion on the highway and everything, but I'd love to take it for a day or two (possibly a weekend) to get a feel for what its like in everyday life.
I'm hoping someone knows of a way for me to do both of these things... I figure this would be the place to check. If you have any feedback or input, please feel free to write back in the forum.
Not trying to be a twit, but how many people would actually hand over the keys to their nearly brand new car to a complete stranger and watch it drive down the street? Even if you left me your passport and bank book, I wouldn't let you.

I see your point, but at the same time, someone might have this veichle as their second or might not need it for the weekend and clearly a contract could be set up. I understand that these days its hard to trust someone like this, but I was hoping someone in the Smart community would be willing to help me out. I appreciate your input, even though its not what I was hoping to hear.
Perhaps someone on this board might know of a place you could rent one near you. That would probably be the best option. In this day and age, there's been too many examples of thieves taking off with someone's car on a test drive (possible purchaser) and never returning. Nevertheless, yours is a somewhat strange request to ask of a group of strangers.
My dealer will rent one from thier service department, ask your local dealer.
Does anyone happen to know if smart center Somerville, Lynnfield, or Warwick will do this? I'm up late tonight and can call tomorrow, but would love to know now. Also, how much would they charge me, do you happen to know?
Well I appreciate the comment, now all I need to do is find a smart owner near boston who feels the way you do. I'm hoping that someone would even let me drive it for an hour or two, just try and get the "real" feel for it. The person could take my credit card, home information, phone number, etc. I swear, I'm not trying to steal someone's smart, why would I could come here if I was trying to do that?

I don't think anyone is suggesting you would steal anything, it is just hard to load a $15,000 plus car to a total stranger. You can rent them, you just have to find one.
