I ran through a quick ups quote for 70 lbs from Portland to Pennsylvania but even UPS is telling me I'm a dummy since it only weighs 70 lbs I should not use freight service but instead normal package service.

UPS Freight LTL
Non-Contract
Days in Transit:5
Class Weight Each Per CWT Charges 50 70.0 lbs. Minimum Charge Applied 513.11 USD

Rates Gross Charges: 513.11 USD Total Weight: 70 lbs. 60.00% Discounted Amount 307.87 USD Amount After Discount 205.24 USD Fuel Surcharge 35.92 USD Residential Pickup/Delivery Fee 152.00 USD Total Charges: 393.16 USD
I looked at normal package shipping and you must stay within ">>> the maximum size total constraints of 165 inches (length + girth, where girth is 2 x width plus 2 x height)."

But pricing for these light weight packages if we split up into 3 or 4 packages even across the entire US is less than $100.

I'm no expert. One of the dealers on this site is selling a red set for $700 delivered to my door - my problem is I want BLUE!! Somehow he is shipping them.

Fastturb,

Another shipping method that was suggested to me is Greyhound. They seem to be cheaper for larger packages. The downside is that you have to be fairly close to a Greyhound station.

My office is close to a Bus Station in King of Prussia PA. Who knows maybe I can get it on a bus...

I just bought a Little Giant 15' Ladder on Woot. It was $129 plus $5 shipping. That has nothing to do with smart cars but the box was over 5 foot long, 3 feet high and 1.5 feet wide/thick. Weight was 36 lbs and it started its journey to PA from Salt lake UT.

When my wife saw it in the driveway she asked if I finally got my PANELS.

I guess I probably spend the $1000 at the local dealer and pick them up with my Lil Red Express pickup. Then I'll know what all the issues are. Maybe I'll call Smartskins first and ask how they ship but since I wasn't going to use them for any other business, I thought it was pushing a little.

thanks for another suggestion Belleveu1

Dovienya,

Hi,

Have you heard any more about the yellow panels?

Thanks,

John

Yellow panels

I'll probably be selling my spare set of yellow panels. Local pick-up in Long Beach CA.

Pete.

I am concerned I might not be able to swing these particular yellow panels, due to the cost of having them shipped. So far, it looks like it would be far less expensive to get them fresh from the dealer than to get these sent across the country. I'm hoping to get a chance to try calling a couple places tomorrow and see if I can find anything more reasonable. Granted, if it does come to that, I'd still have a set of red panels available.

I apologize for the delay on this, both to Belleveu and Driven2. Am on vacation this week (currently at a hotel on the coast) and haven't been getting a lot of chances to be productive.

Hadn't noticed you there in long beach, Pete. Sadly, that's still outside of any easy travel radius for me. Heh.

will it fit?

Hi has anyone carried the new panels in their shipping box in their smart? I suspect it means laying the passenger seat down and having the hatch open with the box extending out. i'm just wondering if anyone has done this. I'll be picking up a set in 12 days. thanks,

Fasturb. I needed my Grand Caravan's 2nd and 3rd row seats folded to fit those panels, and I still couldn't see behind me thru the rear view mirror. They were not NIB but pre-owned, in huge individual plastic bags..

I was able to fit a body kit inside of a Honda Accord.....not in box. Food for thought for those that plan a local swap.
