March 21st smart Anniversary Event!

Beverly Hills smart Center and Smart Madness are bringing you
the smart 1 Year Anniversary Event. The starting point will be
at BHsmart Center and will end at the rooftop of the Peterson
Museum with lunch. We'll take a fun ride with our smarts in
between the two points and end it with fun, prizes, and more at
the top of the Peterson Museum.

This is the one event you don't want to miss. More and
exciting details to follow. One thing for sure, this will be
the SoCal event of the year. Mark your calendars now as this
will be one event you won't want to miss.

The event will entail the following:

Breakfast
Poker Run
Car Show
Unveiling of a TURBO smart car with 115 HP!
BBQ
Live entertainment
Raffle with over $1,000 in prizes
Trophies for the car show

...and it is all absolutely free!

This event is being put on by Smart Madness in leau of the cancellation of the join event by Smart Madness and BH smart.

I hate to involve myself and our company with this type of drama. The facts are the following:

The General Manager of Beverly Hills smart has had many dealings with us. After the last event we hosted he contacted us and asked if we would be interested in doing something together in the future. We said we would due to the fact that all our dealing with him have been good.

He later contacted us and asked if we would like to co host an event (this event) with his dealership. We did not contact him, he called us.

We then asked if your company (4smartcar) would be involved in this event (since you two were friends) and informed him that if that was the case we were not interested due to our own experience with you which I am sure you would rather we not discuss on an open forum. The GM assured us that you and your company would not be involved in any way.

Because of this we agreed and went to work. We did all the work and gathered up a great group of folks and planned a great agenda for the day.

All the sudden this week, the focus changed from this being a fun event with no commercial focus to one that was centered around the dealership and its services. In addition, once we set up the agenda and got everyone excited about coming out we were told to "just bring your peeps and we will take care of the rest".

Several minutes later we were accidentally sent an evite that was prepaired ahead of time along with a website link of your companies as the sponsor.

We confronted the GM of BH smart and informed him that we feel like we were deceived and used by his company and yours.

All along both of your companies planned this event and simply used us to do your work, give you our ideas and then were simply told "there were changes to the agenda" and to "just show up". We were further told that there were not plans to have your company as the sponsor, but your ads, Evites and a new website launched 30 minutes prior to this denial.

We, at Smart Madness do not wish to have any association with ANY company that chooses to conduct themselves in this type of behavior. Due to this and the many requests from our friends/customers we have decided to simply host our own event.

I was just informed by the Meetup.com admin that Elie has been removed from the site and the original event at Beverly Hills has been deleted. But the Smart Madness event is of course still there which will be held at Signal Hill.

I think it goes to show that being honest pays in the long run. Being openly dishonest just puts you in a bigger hole.

In all honestly, I find that Boris & Rachel planning the entire event, only to have been screwed over (excuse my language) is disgusting.

Thank you to you and everyone else for their support. Just to be fair to all parties...

We did not organize "the entire event". The GM of BH smart called us in January and asked us to help him put this event together. We agreed and went to work. We created the outline for the event, publicized it to our customers/vendors, created and updated numerous threads, lined up sponsors and spoke with BH regularly. BH secured the Peterson museum and not us. We simply suggested it for an ending site since we organized a past event there with our classic mini club and the folks at the museum were very helpful the last time. The GM stated he knew someone there and would take care of making the call.

At the last minute it seems they found deeper pockets and simply told us to "show up with our peeps" and they would handle everything else. Shortly after wards they announced a new sponsor and blew us off.

Sorry for all the unnecessary drama folks.... We were simply trying to help put on a fun event for the community.
