WOW! Unemployed after 9+ years

Yesterday I lost my job after 9+ years. This really sucks! Hopefully I will find work before my smart gets here.

I'm right there with you Sister... Laid off December 1st after 13 1/2 years. Thankful I already have my Smart! Let me know if you'd like to meet up while you're off. I didn't expect December to be busy for the job hunting market, I have plenty of time on my hands.

Hope you find work soon.

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Keep your chin up and dust off the resume. With every closed door, a new one opens.

I'm at 50+ also. So thanks for the heads up on how tough it will be.

Or it can be considered an opportunity to go back to school to go in a new direction.
I lost two jobs in nine years, time to change direction.

First off I'm sorry to hear it... and welcome to the club... I was laid off November 3rd.

I'm 31 and it's hard to trying to weigh finding something in the area I was in or starting all over. Add being told you have a position only to find out that you don't 2 weeks later and unemployment benefits should include free psycho-therapy.

Merry freaking Christmas...

My husband lost his job Dec 2. He wasn't laid off and wasn't exactly fired, he was just told that it was "time to part ways"! He's been stressing out trying to find a job since.

I agree...Merry Freakin Christmas

Oh, man I feel for all of you and that's my biggest fear. As an over 50 hi-tech female worker, loosing the job I've had for 10 years would be a huge blow. Especially coming on the heals of my suddenly-lost retirement savings.

Good Luck to everybody.

I'm freshly unemployed from my 9+ years but doing so by choice. They offered incentives to walk away, so I choose to walk. Perhaps toward Florida....

I'm pretty happy, actually.

Good luck in making the unemployment short! Let me know if you want to buy a house in Clackamas, Oregon.
