Very Nice. That looks a lot like the set I picked up in Saarbrucken.

I guess I got a good deal, both items were less than $99.

you're absolutly right

but if you add the cost of the commute to Saarbrucken to pick them up it become a little inconvenient and add a little to the local price..

During my service time way back...I was stationed in Zweibrucken and we went from that sleepy town to Saarbrucken for "entertainment" Needless to say there were days we didnt make it back until just before our passes ended. !!

No doubt you had a tour of the plant ?? were you still allowed to stand about 10 feet away from the production line.???

How many shifts are they doing now...

regards
Sherwin

You are also right. I am fortunate that my wife does consulting for the Air Force and we get to Europe 4-5 times a year. Been to Hambach twice. Got much closer to the assembly line, but I was the only visitor that day. My tour guide said only two shifts for the forseeable future. The Saarbrucken dealership was my favorite. Also visited dealers in Kaiserslaughtern, Trier,Paris,Frankfurt. Brought back a suitcase full of smart stuff. Headed back for 3 weeks in June. Hope to talk my wife into going to the factory this time.

i manage to still do some travel but Hambach is always out of the way.... my wife is German and maintains her apartment about one hour north of FRA. We get back about twice a year...back in sept I did the automechanica...

Im quite surprised about the factory still working on only two shifts. wonder how they can increase production so much without some a great deal of quality control items.

when i began with smart in early 01 they were turning out 25,000 a year +/- on two shifts...now the states have added an additional 25,00 to the production level and STILL on the same two shifts...hard to believe... those little cigarette, wine drinking Frenchman must be moving a lot faster...like charlie chaplin !! ha ha

safe driving...
