Is this an accessory you would be interested in?

smart Bluetooth...

Control Wheel for Bluetooth...

Optional iPod Control add-on...

smart USA does not plan on offering this in the USA, but after learning that I asked if they minded if I took a poll to find out if there was any interest in it. The Bluetooth Option would run $625 and the iPod add-on would be $199. These would be the prices for the parts only. I have no idea at this point how labor intensive it is. I know they are expensive and I didn't start the thread to debate it. I know it is. Please just let me know if you're interested in smart USA getting any. Thanks.

The Drive+Play iPod controller (v1) is available online at eBay and others for $12 - 20. Since it works great the Ipod add on seems pricey. Along those same lines, a bluetooth headset is $15 - 40 from someplace like Buy.com (a good recent one, but not the latest and greatest.) Not debating, just suggesting that alternatives at those prices might crimp demand for the expensive system however nice it may be to have an "OEM" setup.

Just in case not everyone heard the news, smart and Kenwood got together and offer the Kenwood DNX6000EX GPS Navigation System with Bluetooth installed for $1500 and it becomes part of the car's warranty. Personally I'd go that route before this. I stock them here already and they made three different packages where you can get just the unit or add Kenwood 240W 3 way door speakers and Kenwood iPod Control for $1750 installed or the speakers, iPod Control, 1000W Kenwood amp and a custom under dash Kenwood 8" Subwoofer for $2500 installed. They did a knock out job of the sub box as well. The system sounds amazing.

I think for that amount of money you could get a GPS head unit with both bluetooth and iPod control.

EDIT: smartRRparts beat me to it. I was thinking of an aftermarket head unit though, for considerably less than $1500.

There is no question less expensive head units are out there. Initially Custom Sounds was supposed to be our Kenwood representative for these smart backed audio accessories, but apparently they turned the program down because they said they made no money on them. I've been selling the Pioneer AVIC-F7010BT on this forum for months now for $699.99 shipped and it's prewired for the smart with the dash kit and adapters.
