smart car Cabrio Roof Spoiler by S-Mann now in stock!
Hey guys and gals,
We finally got enough of these spoilers in to meet demand and have put them up on our site. The spoilers are available in Matte Black for those that want to have it painted and also in Silver (ready to mount).
Does the stock matte black item match the top already, without painting?
Pictures with completely closed and completely open top would be nice, as would an indication of how it attaches.
Thanks,
Timo
The spoiler matte Black matches the top, but should be painted for long term protection. We have painted all of the Gloss Black when we install them.
The spoiler is a two piece spoiler just like the original S-Mann coupe Spoiler. The first piece is bonded and screwed in to the original piece and then the cover is glued over the new frame piece. The install is pretty easy (about 10-15 minutes).
We will try to get some more pics in the near future and post them up. If you take a look at the pics of the coupe spoiler you will see the two pieces. The Cabrio one is similar to that in design, but the pieces are different size.
Overall the fit and finish is good and it looks pretty good on the car.
What effect, if any, does this piece have with respect to keeping the rear window clean? About the only gripe I have with the small Cabrio rear window is that, because of the aerodynamics of the car, it gets *filthy* back there on rainy days or wet roads, especially on the interstate. And since we Cabrio-types don't have a rear window washer/wiper...

We just painted one for our Yellow Cabrio and will install it later this week once we have a bit of spare time. Once we do and I drive around with it for a bit I will be able to tell you based on my own experience.
Until then I can only tell you that it looks great on the car and those that have seen it liked it.

Oh, I agree that it looks great; I'd just like to know whether it's actually functional, or just "window dressing." I'll look forward to reading your findings.
Just exaggerating a bit... Smart owners trying to get an underpowered engine to act like a V-6 are funny to me...
I agree, window gets dirty easy... I bet the aerodynamics trap water there... A spolier might help a bit... Not sure if it gives ya $300 worth of help... BTW, I'm 41 years old.... ;-)
