Guess they're special for the dealers right now. Too bad for the panel restrictions...

I'll contact you somehow if I go for one. . .or two. At about $70, they're a little more expensive than most 1:18s !

Do all/some of the dealers have a 'gift shop', and that's where these are stocked ?

They are Minichamps - Paul's Model Art. They do all the stuff for Mercedes.

High dollar cars in the diecast world that hold their value well. If you ever get sick of your little diecast cars made by Paul's Model Art, you can normally get your money back and possibly some extra. I have a few Mercedes models that were originally $40 that I could easily sell for $100+ now, even with the economy the way it is.

The Smart models from the dealership are worth the money. I have a closeup with all angles in my gallery of the 1:18 model.

Do you have any of these sizes for the Pure model in Yellow/Black?

[quote=classicsmarts;55555]

These just in. They are the genuine licensed smart models. The biggest one (1:18) is 6" long $68.75 and the panels come off of this one, the middle one (1:43) is 2 1/2" long $38.75, and the smallest (1:87) is 1" long $18.75. They are all packaged very nicely and they should be for the price. Call me or PM me if you've just got to have one. I ordered every color collectible they make. Thanks.

Coupes
1:18 silver metallic/black
deep black/black
red metallic/black

1:43 silver metallic/black
blue metallic/black
light yellow/black

1:87 silver metallic/black
red metallic/black
crystal white/black

So why don't they make ALL the sizes in ALL the colors?

I would really like to get one of each size to match my blue/black cabrio.

But, from what I have seen, I can't order ANY(?) of these blue/black cabrio combination?

Why aren't they offered in ALL the sizes in ALL the available colors and cabrios?

The big one (with the removable panels would only take 2 different molds (coupe or cabrio) and then silver or black Tridion. So 4 versions then buy the panels separately to match your car? (just like lifesize smarts?)

A quick way to tell:

450: Three taillights per side, vertical door handles.

451: Two taillights per side, horizontal door handles.

The models offered by classicsmarts are 451's. He knows his smarts!

I believe I have some 450 models that I picked up in Germany. I'll post photos of them for fun when I find them!

These coupes are all Passion models though with alloy wheels and see through roofs.

Not bad then. But, even if taken out of the box and off the pedestal ?

I'll go look at those.

On the cars I really like I don't care if I take it out of the box. For the most part I have gotten good money out of diecast removed from packaging. I have a HUGE diecast collection of several thousand cars, been collecting for well over 20 years. When I want to rotate cars out and am really tired of looking at certain models, I just put them on eBay.

My favorite stuff is the cars pull out of the package and really appreciate them. Most people don't know that the rear tailgate and hatch open on the Smart 1:18. Oh, the hood doesn't open.

I have about 35 (completely uncomparable to your collection), though banged up here and there and so they're probably resale-worthless. I like appreciating the model cars, and dislike when the back doors and trunk don't open.

Isn't the hood more or less the panel ? Just black plastic beneath it then ?

Yes, the hood is just a panel that pops on and off. Underneath is smooth plastic.
