There have been some ideas on having a Mid-West Smart Summer rally rumored at the past meets in Minnesota. I wanted to get some discussion going to see what kind of interest it would generate, and to also get suggestions on what and where people would like to go this summer to meet. The timing of this rally is still up in the air, but I assume a weekend during June/July.

I've been discussing this with Jeff through PM and my suggestions were Memorial or Labor Day weekend at Wisconsin Dells. If we do an extended weekend then people who have to work could take that Friday (and Saturday if they work Saturdays) off. We could meet up on Saturday and Sunday and then use Monday to travel home and rest up.

what? Oregon isn't in the Mid-west??? Really?

Well, I have relatives in WI and I'd be up for a long summer drive. (wu-hu Area 451 Curise Contro!)

I wonder how many West-coasters will come along?!?!!

Lots of other events, car related and otherwise, on those two holiday weekend. Might be better to pick a date when not a lot is happening. Also, there's a strong rumor Smartimes magazine is planning something along the lines of the big meet in Austria for the US. No details yet but I'm guessing this summer. Agree we need to have a big meeting, just not sure where or when at this point.

Just a thought....to get a greater turn-out, you might consider someplace more centrally located in the midwest.

The midwest, I thought, included Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and I suppose Wisconsin and Minnesota. To hold a rally for the 'midwest' as far north as Wisconsin isn't taking into those that would have to drive from KY, Cincinnati or Evansville.

Once I get a smart (I will have one, one day), I would like to attend some of the gatherings, but so far 'SIN' has only had meets in the northern part of Indiana.

Austria? Why do we have to go to Austria?

Maybe the Chinese, when they get their smarts, can have their meet here in the U.S.??? Either way, it would be a long drive for anyone.........
