If anyone has a question about a particular hotel in the dells please PM me and I will try and let you know if it is one to run away from. Its Kind of Like Vegas. Lots of hotels and all have great Pictures, Some what you see in the picture is Everything and some what you see in the Pics is just a tast of what they look like.

Is there someplace closer in the Midwest (in the middle of the midwest,) we can all meet. It sounds like a lot fun!!! I would love to attend!!! I but for us, its 16 hrs driving both ways. Not fun. You guys planning it, live up there. What about St. Louis, Des Moines, Omaha?????? Just asking

This shows that Clear Lake Iowa is closest to the middle but not a lot of Hotel options there. St Louis, no where near the middle, Des Moines is close but what to do and a little to flat, Omaha, no where near the middle by this definition.

Just so you all know. Iowa has a lot of Gravel roads WI has almost none.

Yes I know I live close and we love to go to the dells all the time. We go there because it is a great plave to visit with both lots of hotels, and things to do. And If you look at Population it is closer to the middle. There are a lot more people, and Smarts in Ohio than the Dakotas

And I'm not going to argue with the person who was willing to put this all together.

Thanks Jeff

Yeah, see that's the thing about events. Those doing the work of planning and organizing (and trust me it is WORK) get to chose the location.

Now... the summer is packed full of weekends, so if you want to plan an event closer to KS go for it! And if your weekend backs up the the Dells event let me know - Since I'm driving ~2000 miles might a well see as many smarties as possible!

Just a thought, but if you check out the Illinois Route 66 Association's home page, we have the 2009 Motor Tour scheduled for June 12th, 2009. It may be a bit off of center, but this year's tour is supposed to go from the Bloomington area (I believe) to St Louis. They alter the route between the north end of the state and the south end. More information can be found at Route 66 Association of Illinois | To Preserve, Educate, Promote, and Enjoy Route 66 in Illinois. It will be updated as more information on the Motor Tour becomes available. Anyone is welcome!

The idea was to do a regional meet. Maybe it could become a rotating event and each year it could be in a different part of the country, or have a regional meet in your area at the same time.
