The center point drawn on that map points to an area near Mason City, IA. Also Clear Lake is there too. Its a nice area...but I'm not sure what we could do there exactly. Wis. Dells has more to offer.
From the sound of things, nearly everyone is agreeable on Wis Dells. Does anyone have any dates that would be best for them?
I think Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day weekend, or Labor Day weekend would be good options since they are all extended weekends.
I contacted smart center Indianapolis today by email and am waiting for a reply email or phone call, hopefully we can get a representative from as many smart centers as possible to join us!
If you guys are going to meet up there, you might look at May 16-17 2009. 'Automotion Car Meet'. Looks like mostly muscle cars, but wouldn't the sight of 50-75 SMART CARS showing up really be the main attraction? My guess is YES!

So I guess you 'northerners' didn't like MY suggestion?
I'm going to throw something out there for you all to consider....
I already run a Green Vehicle/Alternative fuel car show in the Midwest in the summer. It's in Madison, Wisconsin the third weekend in July. (Hybridfest Green Drive Expo) We do it as part of the Dane County Fair and draw hybrid and alternative fuel people from all over the Midwest and the US. It's a car show that encompasses everything from Electric supercars like the Tesla Roadster, to Diesels, to Hybrids, to Smart cars.
Smart Car was represented there last year since we know that people who come to the show are very interested in finding out more about Smart cars. It would be even better if they could find out about them from real owners like you! I know it would make a big impact to see all the Smart cars as a group!
Besides the public portion of the show we have all sorts of VIP things for owners who bring their cars. (Picnic, competitions, VIP area, banquet, awards, etc.)
This isn't just some start up thing either, next year is our fourth year so I have some experience already and would be happy to share it.
I have plenty of ideas on how we could work together and make it a really great gathering for SCOA people.
One of the locations claimed to be the Geographic Center of the Contiguous (or Conterminous) United States is pinpointed by a historical marker that is located within a small park near the town of Lebanon, Kansas.

Are we still talking about a Midwest meet or are we onto a national meet now?
That's a link to the event last year's event and should give you an idea of the event.
We don't have details up for 2009 yet.

We can work together in whatever way you guys want. It's a national event and has had coverage from ABCnews.com, Good Morning America and more. Last year over 10,000 people came to the show (this includes spectators as well as owners). We have enough space to make it a national event for you guys, too if you want to make the leap.
Eric's opportunity is pretty tempting. It sounds fun and simple for set up. Otherwise the suggestion to go to Wis Dells in late may works for me. I'd prefer to avoid the Holiday weekends as people may have family gatherings then.
