I think most people don't plan more than a month or so ahead on these kinds of events. There's a lot of planning going into this one and I think we have a really good chance to meet or exceed that number.

Since SF did not contact the Guinness people and I don't believe Orland did either, there is still no official world record for the most smarts gathered in the US. Hmmmm... something to think about.
he he he, but still, seeing 200+ smarts tearing up the main strip will definately cause some car crashes or even pileups on the go-kart tracks...

No world record eh? Call Guinness so we can make the SF and FL people jealous!!!

Suze, and others,
Actually I did contact Guiness and received all of the requirements. I did this late in the planning and frankly all of the requirements for documentation were a little overwhelming and it takes a lot of time to get everything set up (6 weeks or more) unless you want expidited service which costs about $600.

The other thing I discovered from them is that they no longer do country or region records, only world wide. I was unable to determine if there is an existing record set in Europe but if there is we would be competing against their numbers.

I still think it could be fun to try to get certified for a record but if you are interested start early and be aware you need to document everything very well including video.

We have put out a challenge and I'm looking forward to seeing others be very successful as good events set the stage for ever bigger and better opportunities for all of us.

Okay, all smart owners of America, run to Wisconsin in June!!!!!

-OMG, this is going to be huge, someone better call up the Dells before the smart meet becomes the main attraction.

"So what attraction are you going to first, Noah's Ark?"
"Noah's Ark, nah I'm going to that parking lot filled with those tiny cars."

Suze is right. This event could be huge. I am super pumped in being the one planning this. I hope you all are excited too. Today Smart Center Bloomington sent out their e-mail and our event was the first thing listed!

ok, I'm checking the online version for Guinness World Records and I don't see anything for smarts, but this is encouraging:

Largest parade of BMWs - 107
Guinness World Records - Travel & Transport - Cars - Largest Parade of BMW Cars

Largest Parade of Madas - 249
Guinness World Records - Travel & Transport - Cars - Largest Parade of Mazda Cars

So, I would think if somebody wanted to make this their project, it could be very rewarding.

Just made a reservation at Sunset Bay for the Rally. They were great to work with on the phone. She said they have quite a few car clubs stop in there, and they have packages for water parks, Duck rides etc. I am planing to check them out for a possible upcoming family reunion.

Nice place, you'll love it. Just make sure you hold your nose when you pass by the Lost Canyon horse trails...
-When we went, we got the Mt. Olympus Water + Theme Park Package.
-The pools are always nice & warm. (outdoor pool max depth = 5ft) (indoor = 4' 6" w/ kiddie slide)
-We also got the same great phone service also!

-The bonfires by the lake are a great way to meet your neighbors
During the day you could take a swim in the pools or lake, play outdoor ball games, play at the beach, and so on.

I wish that we would have came there a bit earlier in 08'.

P.S. the hotel room A/C will freeze you if you set it too low.

My chances of going as of now 1/500 (little bit better chance)

I would love to make it! Unfortunately, it's just too far for me & my wife. We've made that trip too many times already from Olympia, WA to LaSalle/Peru, Illinois. Just can't see doing that 'kinda distance in smartie! Now if only I had my toyhauler motorhome! :>) Hope everything goes perfectly for everyone involved though!!! :>)

Do you all (locals) recommend we make lodging reservations this early?
