I took delivery of my smart on January 26 of this year. The next day we had 12" of snow in our driveway. NO ONE was going to work, even those with 4x4's. That day I got out and shoveled about a 1/3 of our driveway. The next day I decided to try and go to work. I backed out of the garage, turned around in the drive where I had shoveled and drove straight through about 10" of snow to the street. NO PROBLEM!
On the way to and from work, only problem I had was that due to the light weight of the car, it liked to fall into 'ruts' left by other larger vehicles. As long as I payed attention to that, all was well. Went right through the snow and did well on ice too. I was REALLY IMPRESSED......and THANKFUL!
Now I know what to expect for this coming winter..........dealing with winter as normal.
P.S. FWIW, I prefer to use the "auto" mode when on snow and ice rather than using the paddle shifters or shift lever in the "manual" mode.
