to be more specific, NW 'burbs in Cook County, between Schaumburg/ Palatine/South Barrington/Inverness --- Village of Hoffman Estates

Years ago, I was out by Plano checking out an old Austin Healey Bugeye from a classic car dealer in one of those big metal commerical shed buildings --- can't recall the name but he had lot's of older foreign cars. Car wasn't bad, but he wanted too much for my budget at the time. Ended up buying my sister-in-law's rust free (last of) the chrome bumpered MGB roadster from central FL

Hello

New to this posting stuff - just reserved smart car on Dec 29 - I think it will be fun. Located in Mundelein, Il appx 1 hour north of Chicago city proper. Look forward to seeing where dealer is located and which dealer it is associated with. Probably with existing Mercedes dealers. Lived in Europe when they were introduced there as swatch car.

Any news on apprx delivery date for some of the people ahead - I am not sure I can handle a six month expected delivery time.

As it will be Knauz Auto Park in Lake Bluff, IL ... listed as Smart Center Lake Bluff --- the other Chicago are adealer is Loeber Motors (Smart Center Lincolnwood) ... I reserved the first week (4/3) so hopefully will see mine during the Jan/Feb/Mar time frame --- Knauz expects to open early Jan.

Welcome and keep your eyes on this forum, hopefully some folks in the mid-west will be getting delivery soon and can share their experiences ...

Hi everyone in the Midwest. I'm in Grayslake Illinois and stopped by Knauz motors on the 28th of Dec and the are no way close to being ready by 1 January as I was told by a salesperson. They have the location, next to the Crysler dealerhip some signage inside but nothing outside yet. No people present. I will stop by later in the first week of January and see what more has developed. My reservation number is 1188, on April 4, 2007 and confirmed on 10 November. Have a good one.

I was going to do that today as I'm off but it seems that they won't be open for awhile longer ... I've had a few emails from there smart rep (see last response from 12/7 below) so feel free to email her as well ...

"We can now confirm that the smart cars are coming to Lake Bluff in 2008, as part of the Knauz Automotive Group. We are currently finishing construction of our new smart showroom, and hope to start receiving cars in January. We expect to have additional information in the near future.

An update from Chicago's smart center!
Hey, everyone! Get ready...smart center Lincolnwood's construction is 99% complete! Go ahead and check out the photos of our progress by clicking the link on the right side of the page called 'smart Construction - 12.31.2007'.

We are also looking forward to seeing our first fortwos arriving in Chicago in the middle of this month! This means that our first reservation holders should be looking to take delivery in the next few weeks! We will begin contacting reservation holders in the Chicago area within the next week or two to give you a status update.

What does this mean for our patient line holders in the reservation process? We'll also have a few demos to drive, and some official smart merchandise available. So come on in, meet Josh, our smart center Lincolnwood brand manager, or Billy and Colin, our two smart brand specialists, and check out the brand new smart fortwos! We can't wait to meet all of you!
