I know you keep watching. I got the e-mail invite to the open house on Wednesday (WEDNESDAY? Do they think just because we're "smart" that we don't work?) but won't be able to attend. I spoke to Max A. on the phone the other day and just introduced myself but didn't push re: fees, etc. I figured if I did, with my luck he'd shuffle my reservation and give my kid to someone else. He was very nice on the phone though. I just hope he continues to be that way when I'm in the showroom. Did you drive one during the road show?
I have not driven one yet. I would like to go over there to drive one but too much is going on right now. I can drive one closer to my delivery unless I happen to need to go over to Indy again. My daughter goes to IU Bloomington and I may go over there near the end of February and can take the long route through Indy. I am also afraid to mention fees. I dont want to suggest it. When I get the call, I will ask for an email with the VIN and charges itemized. I also wonder what kind of fees, if any they are charging in Chicago. I heard that there are no extra fees at those two dealerships.
We will be the proud owners of the Brabus in the spring. Our delivery date is scheduled for May, 2009. We will recieve it through Loeber Motors in Lincolnwood, IL. Any advice, comments ???? We are excited.

Got mine at Loebers last March. First class operation.
I live in Morris, so it's about an hour and a bit, not during rush hour.
It seems like the folks at smart really stepped up the output on the cars last fall. We originally were given dates of February '09 and then January '09, but then they were moved up to December '08 and then November. It surprised us to get a call from Marissa at Plaza Motors in Creve Coeur, MO on September 29th. We went down to pick up the car the 30th of that month. They had just gotten 3 of the cars ordered that weekend, and it seemed to surprise them too.
These vehicles pay for themselves! With the current gas prices, it takes about $11 to $12 a week for gas. I usually get it filled up at 1/4 a tank, or right between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank. My usual commute is 32 miles a day round trip between going to work and then out to my mom's for senior care. On gas mileage, it gets 38 mpg for running around town and 45 mpg out on the highway. It can get 50 mpg if the wind is just right and you can keep an even speed.
I have seen 5 others around town so far. There are a couple of white/black ones, another blue one with the silver safety frame and a red one with a black SF/convertible top. Ours is blue with the black safety frame.
One recommendation I will make is to warm it up on the real frigid days! It takes a while for the heating system to kick in when the radiator is in the front of the car and the engine is in the back. If you don't, it will earm up about at the half way mark between home and the office.
On the Illinois Ice Slicks we usually get, I have not seen a car handle as well as this on on the ice. As soon as you hit a slick spot, the system kicks in and keeps you going in a straight line. This car is safer than the old '88 Delta 88 we had for a while, which did one heck of a 180 on Route 4 between Carlinville and Springfield. Hats off to the folks at smart and Mercedes! :-)
Hello folks, this is jc in rochester, just below springfield. I placed my order in mar. '08, and then on dec. 12th, set the production order. It will be a white passion coupe, and very soon therafter, have the eibach springs, and tuner exhaust. Can't wait to autocross it this summer. Before it gets here you may still see me running my "little brit" car, a '76 mgb convertible, top up of course ! More when i receive the car. Stay warm jc
