Smart Cars at Old Town, May 2, 2009

A reminder about our Smart night at Old Town coming up May 2 at the Old Town Complex in Kissimmee from 1:00 PM till ?????
We currently have 60 smart cars registered for the event and I anticipate that this will grow to at least 80 smart cars.

Several vendors will be joining us and will be promoting their products.
Breathless Performance Products will be there and will be selling AND installing parts. They now carry the 451 cruise control so now is the opportunity to purchase it and have it installed at the show.
Let Ernie know what you want to purchase and he will bring it with him or drop me an e-mail and I will pass it on to Ernie.
Tom Hingle (otherwise known as smart billet) will also be there with his various billet parts. I particularly like his billet shifter and his pedal covers. Again let me know what you would like Tom to bring and I will be sure to let him know.
A new smart car vendor, Smart Car Customs from Daytona Beach will be there and has donated a set of Aluminum Bumpers with a value of $395 as a door prize for some lucky owner. Come see what else Smart Car Customs has to offer.
And finally, Matt from Superior Dash will be there with their custom dash covers for you to consider as your next mod.

We will also be using the $10 entry fee for door prizes and awards so we are at $600 we will be giving away now and expect that to grow as well.

The schedule remains: Entry as a group at 1:00PM, We will have one of the restaurants available for lunch at 2:00PM, Meet and Greet shop the vendors, and vote on best smart cars from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Door Prize Drawings and cash bar from 5:00 to 6:00PM. Free time from 6:00PM to 7:00PM, 50s and 60s Band on the Main Stage at 7:00PM. Cruise the streets of Old Town along with the Hot Rods from 8:30 to 9:30PM. 9:30 PM till ?????? Party-Party-Party.

For those that will be spending the night either Friday or Sat night I have three Hotel recommendations from Old Town. All three are very close. I am not holding rooms, you can call direct or use the internet to book your room. The recommendations are: The Seralago Suites, Rates $48 to $91, Phone 800-366-5437.

If several of you decide to stay over on Sat night I will arrange a room at a nearby restaurant where we can gather for Breakfast on Sunday morning around 9:00 AM.

This should be a great event, we already have a great crowd lined up and it should get even bigger. Please e-mail me to register if you aren’t already signed up at kwagar@tampabay.rr.com and let me know if you are staying over Sat night and if you want the vendors to bring any particular parts. More info will be coming as we get closer to the date for those that have registered.

My wife and I live 4 miles or so from Old Town. We would love to suggest/have breakfast with a smart group Sunday morning. There is a Golden Corral breakfast buffet very close still on US192 about 3 miles or so from Old Town. Lots of parking/seating and everyone should find something they like to eat. Just let us know.

Update & Further Details
Our Big Smart Car Cruise in to Old Town is coming up in just 5 weeks. There have been a few changes and some updates and the following is the event plan and schedule: If you have not already registered for the event please e-mail kwagar@tampabay.rr.com to sign up.

Event schedule & Details:
12:00 Noon to 12:50 PM: We will stage behind the Red Lobster Restaurant located just past the entrance to Old Town on the South side of the road to enter Old Town as a group at 1:00 PM. For those arriving after 1:00 PM turn into Old Town next to the ferris wheel and follow the sign to the cruise-in entrance where you will be directed to our area which is a large lot behind the Entertainment Shop.
1:00-1:30: Register with Ken Wagar to pay the $10 per smart car fee and receive your name tags, door prize tickets and an Old Town coupon book with discounts.
1:30-2:30: We will make our way to Kool Kat’s for lunch. It will be open to all but we will more or less take it over with our group for lunch. It’s Dutch Treat but should be fun to hang out together for lunch.
1:00-8:00: Throughout the afternoon and evening smart car vendors will be selling and installing parts in our parking area. This includes Smart Billet, Breathless Performance Products, Smart Car Customs and Superior Dash. Almost anything you might be interested in will be available including cruise control, arm rests, exhaust systems, interior and exterior mods.
2:30-4:45: Meet and Great around the cars, purchase mods, watch installs and show off our cars.
4:45-5:15: We will make our way to the main stage at the end of Tracy Street where we will have drawings for door prizes. We will be giving away a set of decorative aluminum bumpers from Smart Car Customs with a retail value of $395. In addition we will be drawing for cash prizes. At this point there will be at least 7 $100 cash prizes awarded to lucky smart car owners.
5:15 to 8:00 PM: You will be on your own to enjoy all of the shops, bars, restaurants and rides that Old Town has to offer. At 7:00 PM there will be live 50s and 60s music on the main stage where we held our door prize drawings.
8:00 to 9:30 PM: We will make our way to our cars and begin to stage for the cruise in through the streets of old town. We will either be at the front or the back of the cruise in with as many as 300 Hot Rods, Street Rods and Classic Cars. It should be very impressive for 80 to 100 of our smart cars rolling down main street in Old Town to the cheers of the crowd.
9:30 till ???? Once we have returned to our parking area you will be free to leave if necessary but we encourage you to stay and enjoy all of the entertainment Old Town has to offer. Several of the Bars are open until 2:00 AM for your pleasure.

For those that are interested or are spending the night nearby we will be meeting for breakfast on Sunday Morning the 3rd at 9:00 AM at the Golden Corral Buffet located just ½ mile West of Old Town on US 192. Please let me know if you plan to join us for breakfast.

For those seeking rooms for overnight I am recommending three close by hotels. On the budget end is the Saralago Suites, Mid-range is the Holiday Inn and On the higher end is the Comfort Suites. All three are with-in a block or two of Old Town and phone numbers and websites can be reached on the Old Town Web Site under Visitors at: Old Town: Shopping, Dining, Entertainment Attraction, Amusement Park and Car Cruises in Kissimmee, Florida

I had originally planned on a car show contest for voting on best smart cars but it was difficult to come up with good categories and I decided there was enough to do without the judging so the fees will all be used for cash door prizes instead.

We have 70 smart cars confirmed at this point and would love to see this grow to close to 100 cars. Smart Car Customs will be doing free installs of any items purchased from them so it’s a great chance to pick up the mods you have been thinking about.

Let me know if I can do anything else to make it a great event and encourage your smart car owner friends to join us for the day.

In just two weeks from this coming Saturday will be our big Cruise-In and Mod show at Old Town in Kissimmee, FL.
All of the details are shown in the previous post. We are now up to 82 cars registered for the event.
