25th Annual Classics on the James
25th Annual Classics on the James will be held here in Richmond, Virginia, on Sunday, September 20th. Last year’s event was a spectacular success with over 250 automobiles on display. This year’s featured marque will be automobiles manufactured by the MG Car Company, Ltd. In addition to the featured MGs and in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Classics on the James, we are inviting all of the past “Best in Show” winners. These wonderful automobiles will be on display in a special section of the show field. We are also excited to announce that we are expecting a large number of Ferrari automobiles. Joining the MGs, the Ferraris, and the “Best in Show” winners will be such extraordinary nameplates as: Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, AC Bristol, Nash Healey, Austin-Healey, Triumph, Mini, Morris, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Saab, Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Pantera, and TVR.
Please click and review their site's info and registration requirements. This should allow enough time to break open the toothbrush and give our smarts a proper military cleaning for this event.
Please sound off if you are interested and team up for a cruise in from either the north or east. A goal is to have us meet and all enter at the same time.
This tax deductable event is in support of the Richmonds Sergeant Santa program. The registration is $35.00 per vehicle no matter the size, shape, or value. The deadline is 1 September. The promoter is motivated at having Smart Cars at their event this year.
During the event, smart car "time occupiers" are needed. Panel upgrades and other mod's would be a good thing as a show and tell item. Panel cleaning suggestions are always a thought. Your turn.
Chairs? 10' x 10' just-n-case? and the other normals.
Has anyone had any thoughts on attending this event? Registration no later than 1 September is required if attending. It would be good to have a cabrio in addition to a passion attend this for the show and tell. Having a modified smart on hand like "foyfarlow's" will really add to the event. Hope to see you there.
I will be picking up some extra flyers at the "Beach" dealership next week for my 10,000 mile checkup in preparation for next month.
The 1st of September is coming up soon. Anybody else interested in attending this event? It would be nice to see a convertable there also for the show and tell. I picked up some extra information cards while at the Beach store. Please make a post if you are able to make this event. Do not forget to register prior to 1 September. 25th Annual Classics on the James
The smart car club ~ Heart of Virginia Chapter has received a complimentary 20' x 20' Vendor space at the car show. So far 2 have registered.
Their "IT" person is adding the Smart car to the list of European Cars in their database. I had to register as "other" and do an add in for mine.
In a 20 foot x 20 foot area, 6 cars would fit without stacking. It would be great to have a convertible or 2 on display also. I am working on one but nothing yet. We have 1 Silver & Black and 1 Red & Black which is a seasoned winner for his upgrades. Having varied colors add to the pizzazz. A yellow, black, blue and white would do fine.
With this being their 25th year, they should be doing something right.
I have access to either a 10' x 20' portable "carport pavillion" or a 10' x 12' canopy. We can let the weather decide the need.
Registration deadline is September 1st. This event is held on Sunday, 20 September. Any one else interested in joining us at this Browns Island event?
"An update"
Thanks Bill. We'll be ready for you with a good spot. Exhibitors like y'all should be on the island between 7:30 and 8:30; and set up and ready to go by 9:00. Show cars (300 or more) arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 and create quite a traffic jam trying to get across the one lane bridge. You'll want to be well ahead of that. The spectator public starts arriving at 10:00.
The day of the show, I will be there to greet you and direct you to your spot along with a couple of guys helping me. If you need help with anything like putting up your canopy, we can assist. I'll check on you periodically through the day to make sure you're OK. You will also have my cell phone so you can reach me anytime all day. Other car club exhibits are usually the Jaguar Club, Ferrari club, and the Triumph Club. If we have any Smart cars on the show field, I will try to position you relatively close to them if possible. You might want to include flags from the countries of origin and manufacture in your display to add some color and reference for spectators who might not be aware of the European roots of the marque.
Reminder, the show goes on rain or shine, so plan accordingly. More to come.

I would like to have a Cabrio at this event. If your time permits, let me know.
Thx
I was going through last years car show pic's which foyfarlow, karen and myself attended. Today is the first time I saw these. Their next may be on 2 May, 2010 in Williamsburg @ $20.00 per smart. I wiil start a new thread when the date is confirmed.
