OK here you go.

I'm getting 35mpg combined as well. I use Shell gas.

However, I did a special test while driving my daughter back to college. It was all highway driving. I filled up before I left and when I got back. I got 48mpg. REALLY. Admittedly though I drove very conservatively, averaging 60mph.

That said, if you drive the car hard around town (they way it is most fun by the way), you can't expect better than 30mpg.

So the only answer people can give you is, it depends on a lot of factors. You can squeeze 48mpg (I bet you could actually squeeze 50mpg) out of it. But it won't be fun. So for purposes of this discussion I'd go with 35 as the best mileage that you can expect on average.

Mileage isn't the real reason people buy this car though is it? Come on! The reason is that it's a fun car to drive, it fits anywhere, it turns a lot of heads. All you get with a Prius is good mileage. The smart beats the Prius any day.

looking forward to great fuel economy

I am a reservation holder and am loking forward to a Smart test drive at my local dealer - 280 miles away - lol . At any rate I've had 50mpg diesel rabits in the past and 50mpg 3-cylinder 1.0 liter metro's also and now I have an "08"chevy aveo that i'm getting about 34mpg doing about 70% hwy and 30% city . Only bought it cause the smarts weren't available yet . At any rate thanks to all who have shared the mileage their getting with us .
It all helps in the decision making prosess !

side note - anybody googled loremo yet ?

I posted this in the other MPG thread, but I'll add it here.

(Wish the Admins would combine into just one "What's your MPG?" thread)

Did my second tank fillup today, and first where I knew how it had been filled previously. Squeezed in as much as I could both times. (Yes, I know this isn't a good idea to do regularly) This last tank I did lots of freeway driving at 60 MPH and some State highways at around 50 MPH.
340 miles, 6.417 gallons.

52.98 MPG! 4.44 L/100KM

Better than I thought I'd get.

I don't anticipate getting that all the time, but it looks like mid 40s should be regularly attainable. I'm a very conservative driver when trying to get good mileage, and the ScanGauge is great feedback during the process.

Combine threads?

We can combine them, in which case the posts will resort according to date; we can also move both to the same sub forum - either general discussion or Ops & Maint. Open for suggestions...

I know multiple common topic threads often get started on forums. Perhaps keeping the Sticky threads at the top of each sub forum, so they can't drop off the page?

how about combining all fuel economy, scanGauge, MPG ... topics into a "enviro mileage" or "fuel economy" section.

Got good news

First 204 miles got 38.3 mpg and over half of the miles in 40-45 mph headwind/crosswind. I was blown away. expected 30 at best.
