55 - 60 mph on I-5? Maybe in Seattle metro, but from Vancouver to Olympia that would be downright scary. I guess if I bought a hat, slumped a bit behind the wheel, and put on a AARP sticker....lol.

1st tank....90% city, 10% highway, and only got 30.2 mpg. arco premium. $3.69 @ gallon

somewhat dissapointing , but alot better than moving my truck over these same streets getting 12 mpg, so I guess I have nothing to complain about.

during the next tank and now that Im done fighting the tranny, I expect my mileage will improve!

Okay my smart now has almost 1,000 miles on it. I have filled up my smart 4 times and got the following results: 34.2, 37.09, 38.17 and 34.70. Still trying to hit over 40 but I have to stop mashing the gas pedal.

I hear ya, Erik! I made the drive up to Seattle yesterday and was still being passed going 75! I did get 310.7 miles on that tank and 42.45 MPG - so I was pretty impressed!

first tank i got 34.44 mpg,3nd tank got 35.55,5th tank got 37.22mpg.these are real world mpg in the flatlands of chicagos midwest.5th tank was a little more highway since i had to go 30 miles one way all week, otherwise i drive 11.7 miles from home to work.first 2miles are to get to expressway, then maybe do 30-45mph for3miles with braking, then traffic lets loose the rest of the way to my exit [about 4-5 miles],then back to city driving the remainer of miles, going home is slightly worse with stop and creep getting on expressway with remainer of trip about the same.ive still not driven longer highway millage yet to determine real highway mpg.this is REAL life results described the best i can.

I've gotten a steady 37 MPG on both the first and second tanks since I got my car on the 8th. My commute is 20 miles each way - mostly highway on the way to work and an even split on the way home between city streets and the highway.

My sixth fill-up today. Mileage 304 miles, Fuel, 7.7 gals, mileage 39.5 MPG

Now have 1507 miles and have used 38.7 Gals total for total aversge of 38.9 MPG.

This is for mixed rural, city and highway driving, a combination of auto mode and manual mode and about 50% use of AC over last 7 weeks. Speeds have ranged up to 80 MPH on the highway. Mileage has been incrementally higher each successive fill-up.

I am very pleased withthe results.
