I filled up this morning. 39.65 mpg. Mixed driving pretty much between the rush hour parking lot, some 45 mpg city streets and doing 80-85 on the freeway. I'm at 2200 miles. Top up...top down...some AC. Very happy!

First tank was 34mpg. Yesterday it was 33.9. 50/50 town and country.

Filled up also this morning - at 240 miles I pumped 6.56 gallons into the tank for 36.58+ mpg. Not bad considering my other cold-weather commute vehicle would only get about 65 miles on that same amount of fuel, and the fuel costs about 40 cents more per gallon!

Okay I just completed my fifth fill up and I am happy to report that I got over 300 miles from my tank, 309.6 to be exact. I also got 40.44 mpg out of Squirtle also.

So I joined the 300 and 40 club all on one fill up.

So with just under 1300 miles I am averaging 37 mpg. Now I have a little bot of a heavy foot and travel on the highway at 70-75 most of the time, with excursions to the low 80's very rarely.

Next is to get over 350 and 45 mpg. But first since I am over the 1000 mile break-in period I am going to have some fun and see what this baby will do.

I've studied this very very closely and i can tell you I'ved filled up 5 tanks so far after running my tank down to .1 gallons each time. Normal driving in Florida Im getting a lousy 33-35mpg over those five fillups. My 328i with inline 6 get's 32mpg religiously. I'm not happy. I hope this break-in theory has merit

32 mpg from a 6? Whaaaaa?

chinaski: define, "normal driving.". Also, that particular Beemer should get 28 MPG hiway at best. Are you doing all hiway driving? If so, your fortwo should do better. No offense but I've never heard of a 6 cyl do that well on mileage. Driving style that get's 32mpg from a 6 cyl. should get 40+ from a 3 cylinder.

I tell people the smart has two versions: a diesel that gets in the 60's (mpg) and the gasser that gets less. The diesel is not available in the US but is (the 450) in Canada.
Driving conservatively from Jacksonville FL to Chas. SC I got 46 mpg. The next fill-up was 37 mpg and that is in flat country around Chas. My third was 42 and that again was driving conservatively (1000 mile break-in) in the flat low country of Charleston.

Here's the 3rd tank results:
305 mi on 8.1 gals.
95% city, 5% highway and 100% of the time with the AC on.
I guess 37.6 mpg isn't too bad. Still trying for 40.

The first (dealer filled) tank lasted 267 miles and took 8.14 gallons to fill which yields 32.8 mpg.

Filled up with 93 octane and hope the next tank last longer!
