Your mpg will only get better and better as your engine is broken in. My 2007 camry hybrid I bought my g/f only got like a little more then 300 miles the first tank and a few tanks after that. Then sooner or later I saw 400 miles range. Then 500 miles.. well now.. 40,000+ miles I hit 595 miles on a tank and filled up more gas then what the specified size of the tank it said in the manual =P.. haha..

So don't worry, engine has to be loosened up

The (33-35) in the Smart. Im referring to 50/50 mixture of Highway and city driving, flat terrain which is typical in St. Pete. As for the 328i, I never seen less than 27mpg in 4yrs no matter how I drive that car.

I guess 37.6 mpg isn't too bad. Still trying for 40.
37-38 is great for mostly city driving. I'll be driving 17mi one way to work and it's mostly 50-65 mph so I'm hoping to hit 40 mpg. We'll see.

A little over 950 miles now, four fill ups, 33, 37, 34, 36 MPG. Most driving is a freeway commute of about 60 miles round trip. Leave at 4:30 AM and return home about 2 PM. I am hard pressed to keep it under 70 MPH. Smarting around is too much fun to worry about another 5 or 10 MPG IMHO. We have tachometers to see where the red line is, right? Let’s use them!

First mileage report.

This is from a full tank from the dealer, so it might be a bit skewed. 180.6 miles of slice and dice driving on the highway (65 MPH, all the way up to 85+),plus some surface street driving here and there. Filled to the first "click"-whereas dealer might have topped it off, I don't know. Anyway, 4.81 Gal, so ~37.5 MPG. I'll be curious to see what the next few fillups bring.

Msbea. I would be disappointed too! Please post us on your mode of gear shift. Are you using "D" ? Are you using the manual stick shift? Paddles?

You have lowest MPG I've seen on this board. Some thing is amiss.

Chinaski, I run the St Pete circuit every day and now am getting 37+ with 900 mi on the odo. 1st tank was @ 32mpg so I think you will see improvement as others have.

2300 miles ... last fill 2 fill-ups were 43.3 and 43.6 mpg.
60(ish) mph on the freeway and I'm trying popping it in neutral as much as possible ... and turning the engine off at when I know I'm going to be at a long light. Only in the day though!
