Since I bought the car on January 8, mpg = 38.3 for 3400 miles.
Since I past the break in period (1000 mi), mpg = 39.4 for 2460 miles
Since the weather started to turn warmer, mpg = 41.0 for 630 miles.

Lowest = 32.3 mpg (first tankful).
Highest = 43.9 mpg 3 tanks ago.

Driving conditions are mostly country roads, small cities, & expressways.

last tank 45 mpg... tank before 37... same type of driving.
Maybe I found one of the stations using the loophole in missouri ethenol laws..
The last time I went to the same station, my mileage jumped like that... hmm.

City I got 38.6 miles, on the interstate one trip rom dealer to my home 210 miles, fuel up 4.1 gal. I have 510 total miles after I bought it, I will know more after 1,500 miles trip.

Anyone get more than 50 mpg?

The bad part is this Smart Car is using premium gas,it cost 20 cents/gal more than regular gas. I rather get a car that use regular gas and have the same fuel milage as Smart car.

It doesn't exist in a gas engine only car. You will pay twice as much for a Prius & can use regular. But even with premium, you're saving money compared to any other non-hybrid out there.

I now have 21,000 miles on my Smart. Took delivery at the end of January last year, Here are my basic stats so far:

Commute is 30 miles each way. 30% Suburban (40mph roads with regular stop lights), 30% highway, 40% mountain.

Lowest=42 MPG during rush hour traffic day
Highest=53 MPG during highway trip
Average economy (tracking for 1 year on Fuel Economy) 46.6
Typical calculated economy between 46.2 and 47.4 MPG

Very pleased and as a point of comparison, my mileage on my other car tracked is about 10% below the EPA Hwy.

Oh, and I figure I can handle premium costs at a whopping $1.60 per tank extra. Only thing that might tempt me away from my Smart is a diesel Mercedes A class or maybe the talked about Smart 2+2.

I truely get 38 combined city and expressway. just ordered a scanguage II
and have installed the area 451 cruise controll. do not get hung up with the mileage. this car is for fun. you can lie about it to everyone you talk to and no one cares.

I don't see you on "Fuel Economy". All of the reports there are 35 - 40 mpg. Out of 75 reports on fuelly.com, only one is reporting as high as you. What's your secret? I'd love to know & start reaping the benefits too.
