450 and 451 refer to the cars; each has/had several different engine options worldwide.

I get about 30-32. ('09 cab)

But I am probably a worst-case driver. I gun it when the lights turn green, I always drive with A/C on, and I have a cabriolet (probably less aerodynamic than a hard top), Plus I drive it in automatic mode most of the time, and in city traffic most of the time.

hey guys, finally after almost a month, had to put gas in my new smart and it worked out to be 6.23 L/100km - as i'm from the great white north I can't tell you what that is in mpg.

More Real-world MPGs

I've held off posting MPG figures until I had some miles on my '09 Passion, since I had read here and elsewhere that mileage is likely to underperform until after the break-in period. I now have 5100 miles on, at least 50% city and probably more, so I pulled out my receipts and entered them into Fuelly: (more)

More Real-world MPGs (cont.)

I'm quite pleased that the mileage has actually increased over time, and I'm still keeping about the same ratio of city-to-highway driving. I do believe warmer weather has improved the economy as well, as any car I've ever owned got lousy mileage in the NY winter. I don't drive much as a rule, as only 5100 miles in 8+ months will tell you, and the majority is to/from work, an 18 mi. round trip. To get 37 mpg avg. in that environment is quite satisfactory, esp. since messr. smart is the most nimble ride I've ever owned. Raw power isn't everything... (more)

just picked up '06 cab

hey gang; we just picked up a lemon yellow cabriolet with 450 miles.

drove it home this afternoon (about 200 miles); started with a full tank of fuel ( I didn't fill it so who knows?) then refilled it when we got home. MPG of 44.3. all highway driving (didn't exceed 55MPH with A/C on).
