The most fuel efficient vehicles in CR’s real world tests were the Toyota Prius at 44 mpg, the Smart Fortwo at 39 mpg and the Honda Insight EX at 38 mpg.
Oh Ford. How can you possibly build a light-duty truck that gets worse gas mileage than the Hummer H2? Well, that’s precisely the case for the 2010 Ford F-250 Lariat which was recently credited by Consumer Reports for getting the worst mileage of all 2010 vehicles with a shocking 10 mpg in real world tests.
I like the avatar and that panel combo Is the boot white ???
Thanks for the compliment and yes, the boot is Crystal White in that photo. However, that was just an in-between photo when I changed my car from Crystal White to Rally Red last year. So, nothing new on my car. However, I am planning a custom color and some graphics for the Nationals...

Before I bought my smart I consulted both Consumer Reports & Consumer Guide. I compared it to every other car that tested at better than 30 mpg (EPA) & a few others that were close.
The smart fortwo tested significantly better with both CR & CG when compared with EPA. The only other car in my comparison group that tested even a little better was Yaris at 1 mpg better. The rest were either the same as EPA or worse. That told me a lot about smart & it hasn't disappointed since I bought it over a year ago.
Hmmmm, I just looked at a list and they had the 2009 Yaris at 30 mpg while a 2007 & 2008 was 34. 09 is the same, just some slight body changes. I get 37 combined in my Yaris.
39 for the smart is believable. I get along those lines sometimes, like if I am not driving thinking about mileage in the back of my head. (ps, for some reason I am always the car at the back of the line because I caught up with them.)
I used to get 39 mpg when I would drive in auto mode in my Smart Fortwo.
Since I discovered the paddle shifters and have driven exclusively w/ them, I would be hard pressed to even get close to 39 mpg LOL
After 11,000 I routinely get 40 MPG, mixed city and Interstate. This winter it dropped to 38-39, probably due to letting the heater warm it up a little in the early morining before I take off to work. Great little car.
Must be a gas motor, or maybe the new diesel motor miliage has dropped. My average is 17 combined. If I run the economy download it is about 21. But my truck doesn't like eco download during the winter. I get 14 pulling my 21ft enclosed 6ft interior ht trailer loaded down with camping gear and 4 atvs. And I get better miliage when I stomp it than when I baby it. But my smart still saves me about $200 a month over my truck. Only put about 5000 on my truck since I got the smart feb 2008.
