Has anyone tried mid-grade gas?

Curious if it works without pinging?

Good question. I know you can use it if the station is out of premium but dont know what the effects are.

No pinging with medium grade, no pinging with regular.

I used medium grade regularly in the Pacific Northwest where premium caused problems with a higher performance roadster I owned. No problems. I filled with regular a couple times when it appeared the station was out fo the other grades (in both cases I think it turned out to just be the individual pumps). No troubles.

I've run midgrade for almost 40000 miles, last tank was 44.7 mpg. Never a ping and no performance problems.

Never tried mid-grade in my car B4. I am a little peculiar in what goes in my car, so i tend to stick with the higher test stuff.

I was on the way home from a road trip. I still had about a 7 hour drive ahead of me and I was running on empty and the only gas station was this like locally owned farmers one. They only had mid grade and there was a big warning mixed with ethanol. I filled it up enough to get to another gas station but i didnt have any issues.

Most stations only have two types of gas. premium and regular. The mid grade is mixed by the pump. My thought is when we fill up with premium. we are paying premium price for the last guys regular until the hose clears out. I also would like to try mid grade fuel. MY stopper is always this....is the $0.80 for the tank worth going against the dealer specs. that is about $50.00 more on fuel for the year.

Arco mid-grade 91 works fine here in Los Angeles. Almost two year old 451 coupe.

But I gas up at Costco when I can, premium 93 not much more there than Arco 91.
