Working on 500 mile Tank

MPG per scangauge up to 56.7. That nets 510Miles assuming 9gal usable of the full tank. Hope there is no traffic to speak of for the next couple days. Either that or I may have to push the car the last couple of miles. Will find out toward the end of next week.

I Wouldn't even think about if I was pushing those levels until I got to 1/4 tank and was at 350 miles. Way to may variables involved

if you're texting while driving it may be a very short tank indeed

Not sure on the accuracy of those bars, but scangauge has been within .03 gallons on the last two fillups, each time in my favor. Last tank I was at this point - 4 bars showing I ended up with 464Miles and .4gal remaining, but was only getting 52MPG on the way down to Tucson (last 200 miles of tank). Only one high speed trip planned this time and that is total of 60 miles. I agree will be close.

That was when I got into work, which is where I am - working hard, or not.

I hope you make 500, that would be an achievement! My best has been 413 on a tank, but I've had several around 400. Those last bars sure do go fast though. You can do 100+ on the first bar and then it seems like the last bars are dropping every 20 miles or so...

My 'good tank' indicators are:

1. Go over 200 miles before half tank (when it drops to 4 bars)
2. Go over 300 miles before it drops to a quarter tank (when it drops to 2 bars)
3. The more miles over each marker, the better (obviously), but that's my guideline

I HATE those bars. Last week, I did 125 before the FIRST bar disappeared. Then, the next three bars went in 25 more miles, okay, half way and 150 miles. Seemed great, I personally like it when I can get 300 miles on a tank. But, the car ended with 280 which ain't silly low, but I thought I was going to get something higher.

The bars, IMHO are useless.
