for the amount charged, every attending registered paid owner driver should get a plaque, even if it means getting a additional attending count and mailing the plaques to the registered owner/driver after the event. personally im waiting for many many more registrations before i can commit to the event. which puts me at the "sorry" catorgory for a plaque.

We have secured 100 limited edition dash plaques for the event which will be provided to the 1st 100 cars registered so sign up today at our web-site at North American Smart Cars
We have recieved confirmation that smart USA remains committed to the event and Jill L as well as Roger Penske are planning to attend and speak at the special Brunch on Sunday of the event.
In addition smart USA will be helping us promote the event with a full marketing plan to be rolled out at the end of the month.
Promotional Posters are being finalized at this time, event t-shirt designs are complete and will be posted for purchase soon, caterers are under contract for the BBQ and the Brunch and additional informal gatherings are being planned for each evening at the host hotel.
Plans for regional caravans in to KC are in the works as well.
We are ready to go! The only thing missing is you! Sign up today for the 1st smart car Nationals and what will be the largest gathering of smart cars anywhere in North America!
Your event coordinators thank you for your support.
Just to clear up any confusion and explain the background of the Nationals event. This event is being planned, coordinated, financed and held by seven individual smart car owners who are calling themselves North American smart Cars. We are doing this in our own spare time, unpaid, simply out of our enthusiasm for these cars and the smart community. None of us is wealthy, all of us have full time jobs, we live in 5 different parts of the country and we do not plan for this to be a money making venture, we only hope to recover our out of pocket expenses and the costs of holding the event. We have already invested money out of our own pockets and have committed to thousands of dollars in additional expenses for materials, liability insurance, permits, food, lodging etc.
Every dollar we spend needs to have a return in registration fees or it will come directly out of the pocket of the 7 of us who assumed the risk of putting together an event that we believed the smart community would appreciate and attend.
We have been able to get the marketing support of smart USA but they are not putting the show on or providing the funds needed to put the event together.
If registrations fail to come through, the event will fail or be cancelled and we will eat a lot of expense and will have wasted thousands of hours of our time and that will be it. If registrations come through and the event is successful we will try to hold additional events either nationally or regionally in up-coming years.
We started the process and firmly believe it can be a great event but now we need your support. We realize that people want to wait to see how many people commit but if everyone waits there will be no event. The best thing you can do to ensure a huge turnout is to register yourself and help to build the snowball that will encourage others to commit.
We will be meeting in June in KC. There may be 10 of us just sharing time together or their could be 1000 of us having the party of our lives but that is up to all of you.
If a large gathering of owners from across North America is of interest to you we need your support. If you are not interested that's fine too but there is little else we can do, plan or add without a strong indication of how many will attend.
It is nice looking - in a dark gothic sort of way. Looks like something the 'Smart Angels' would wear?
Cafe Press has it that one can submit a design and have one to one hundred created.
If there's demand we'll talk to Cube and see what we can work out. A tshirt will be made available for purchase from a local vendor. Much better quality and roughly the same price as CP.

I say "THANKS" to the organizers for their time and their show of appreciation to "early adopters".
If you r-e-a-l-l-y want a plaque, you can pony up now and save the grief, or you can offer to buy one from one of the 100 in the "thank you" category.

Hip hip hooray to all the coordinators, that's for sure. Planning all of this can not be a small amount of personal time spent, I can guarantee that! Thanks for all you guys have been doing.
I just added a link to the event at billo's itibitismart - ITIBITI front door. I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, as I get a fair amout of monthly visitors. Better late than never, I guess.
Billo & ITIBITI
PS: A personal "Thank You" for all the organizers of this get together. I hope to meet some of you in Orlando on the 30th!
yes, i positively agree that these guys are going well past the normal for setting all this up. and doing a very good and professional job at it. and those of us who miss out on certain aspects... oh well. i understand.
