1190 Club!

I'm 1188, reserved 4/3/2007 - confirmed specs on 11/14/07 - I'm in Nebraska.

I haven't heard anything since ... I've been to the local Smart Center .... they have no idea, no list .... (they have received approxmiately 10 cars that have been delivered already, and 5 for dealer demo/stock that they can't sell until 2009)

Waiting patiently .....

1197 12 APR07/26 NOV07 No word yet. Dealers are nice, I'm using the time to find and buy stuff, like decent floor mats, new brake and accelerator pedals. Looking at getting some black wheels, rear spoiler....but then again the weather here will be better when we do get the smarts in. I figure March will be a good month to be in the 1190's.

1189 from NJ, haven't heard anything yet but I should be getting one of the emails saying that my car will arrive in the next 30 days. Someone from SoCal (res #1191) just got one today. Hopefully the 1180's hear soon!

On Feb 1, I received email from smart saying that in 30 days I should have car (from Pittsburgh, PA dealer )** CABRIO, res Nos. 1190

now that I know for sure my dealer is smart center Lincolnwood stopped by to say Hi today ... no word yet though. At least they're up an running and have cars to test drive, staff to answer questions, etc.

#1199 reserved April 14th, confirmed ~Dec 1st.
Talked with Ethan at smartcenter Seattle today and I'm not in the Feb batch.
He said the official answer is, "you'll receive your smart within the next 6 months" although he did say, realistically, it will be March or April.
He said they will be ramping up the numbers in the coming months. Per Ethan, the smartcenter Seattle store was built to sell 150 smarts per month but production is limiting them to 100/month.

I am on their orphan list and today was offered a base cabriolet (black/silver) but I want all of the bells and whistles. I ordered a blue/black passion with everything. He said he just got 12 cars and ALL prospective owners will be purchasing. Pretty small orphan list!!

Maybe the orphan list is larger than we think! My boyfriend signed for the white/black/red passion yesterday and we were told there weren't any other orphans available as well. We also have a reservation for a cabrio.

Ethan seems to be doing a great job matching up people with cars quickly. When we went in yesterday, we were immediately greeted and known by name. Best car dealership service I've ever received!

I am also assigned smart center Lincolnwood (who have been very nice and as helpful as I believe they can be). I did my test drive on MLK Day and got on the orphan list. So far I know that one Cabrio was available.

What I'm really curious about is whether Chicago is getting the same allocation of cars as, for example, the coasts and Florida. One member (I'm sorry, I forgot who it was) posted that s/he heard from a dealer that allocation was the same for all locations, regardless of market size or reservation queue. If that is true (which defies logic), our wait might be longer than those in smaller markets.

All speculation, I know....

I talked with the sales corp rep dude at the smart house in Venice. He SWEARS the numbers at the end of our reservations mean nothing. So, do we all see the emperor's new clothes or what? Still an 1190, no word from Smart Corp, and I think the king looks well dressed...
