$50 DRL Justification

Configurator link
smart.com - CC

The DRL (daytime running lamps) option is under SAFETY and costs an additional $50.

This could have been a N/C (no charge) item, like the solid roof under EXTERIOR on the Passion Coupe!

What exactly occurs at Smartville, to merit DRL's costing $50 extra, for the USA?

Especially when all they do is upgrade the ECU to handle this. That is free $50 for them.

When you go and configure your car, add the comfort package and then try to add the DRLs. A popup will come up and say something like DRLs are a part of the comfort package, do you still want to add them?

I just tried it both ways - added the DRLs for $50. Then started over and selected the comfort package - got a popup window for DRLs [This option is not compatible with the following package already selected]. Selected DRLs and the comfort package went away. My conclusion is that DRLs remain a standalone option, not compatible with the comfort package. Looks like it's one or the other (probably related to the auto lights feature)
