3 months to ??????

You know this hole thing is starting to P*** me OFF. First I was told 3 months. Then I contact them today about which one is right them or the dde and basically they asked for my info and now she has no idea when I will get my car. She looked it up and now says she has no date for me at all. I mean really a great way to distroy someone happiness about getting a car. There is no chance I will wait until November 08 - January 09. ALL I WANT IS MY FORTWO but I guess that is just a dream at this point with a company that has no chance of being able to give their custormers information about anything. Sorry for the rant but had to get that off my chest.

You are not alone. I have had a deposit since March 2007 only to be told that maybe, just maybe I might get my car in May 2008.

Looks like you reserved Sept 3 '07 and should expect delivery about a year later (more likely about November if you don't get an orphan). I have friends in Michigan that reserved in Nov '07 and expect delivery Jan '09. I also expect that the import problems at the dock will be straightened out soon and we will see more frequent deliveries which will help them give you a more reliable date. I think your reservation range is the most problematic since the summer tour was in full swing and there was a ballooning of demand which the limited supply is causing problems.

When you ordered did you have any idea that the wait would be around a year or were you told that it would be 3 months? Are you going to the local meet up on April 19? It might help get some questions answered or at least help with the wait.

Mousecat,
That is so disappointing that you have not gotten your car yet with an early reservation. I reserved on April 3rd and I've been told it will be delivered in April and is in transit. I think you will get yours before May. Did you call your dealer to have them check on it for you? I think there was a really huge amount of reservations from the end of March 2007 to first week in April 2007. It seems like we are all waiting a good full year and then some to get our Smarts**on the West Coast anyway.

I havent heard about the meetup. When I set it up I contacted the dealership via email and she said you are about 3 months (june/july) away from getting your car. Now she cant even give me a date. She checked for me. She said try again in a couple wks. Being I live 1.5 hours away and with gas prices I really don't drive around to much anymore. Just a real downer to go from mid spring to late fall/early winter. I actually expected it to be a year but when you are told different you kinda get your hopes up.

Here is what she said in an email

I am unable to come up with any dates. I apologize for giving you incorrect information, things are changing so quickly with production that we (I) don’t always get the most up to date information from smart USA. They have assured me that they are working on that and will be communicating better with the dealers on these issues.

I feel for ya, but the "green" salesperson should have never given you that info. Presumably you have not even configured yet! And even at the point of configuration, you'd be expecting at least 3 months wait!

If you reserve in Sept. 07 you are probably looking at Sept. 08 or later. There are probably 20,000+ reservationists before you. Best to wait and not worry about it or cancel your reservation to get something else.

But I did configure and told her so. I called smart usa to insure that they had my configuration. They did. Just upsets me beyond belief. But in a way you are right about the "green" comment. But I have sent many emails with her and all of them was professional. (sp?) So I guess I will cut here some slack LOL.
