After receiving your "vin" # question please...

Once you get your vin number and have tried "cargo tracking your Smart" with no results where else can you go to possibly find any information? When one is assigned a vin number does this mean the vehile has been built? Is it waitting shipment then? Or could it be waitting still yet to be built? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Our DDE is 4/4/2008 to 7/20/2008. Thanks again!

Got my VIN about one month B4 I got my car through Cary, NC. Maybe even a little less time. Like you I was confused if it was still a bucket of bolts in production********but, apparently mine was finished, inspected and on the boat. B4 I knew it I got the call. I think yours will come in to Jax port, Fla, so I don't think you have any way of tracking it. I think you'll get your call fairly soon.

I got my vin#, a few days later was able to track my car, 2 weeks later it is about to dock in Baltimore on May 1st, I hope to be sitting on those warm leather seats by mid May.

I had been attempting to track my VIN, didn't believe the link was accurate. I got the VIN about two months ago.

This evening, finally, it paid off. The car is on the boat in Bremerhaven.

after you get your VIN#, goto
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics - worldwide ocean transport, inland services, supply chain solutions
choose Cargo Tracking under Customer Tools
then Auto Tracking
and input your VIN#

on the Results screen, if you get Ships name and Cargo ID, clicking on the Cargo ID will bring up Shipping Schedule.

From there you can goto
AIS Schiffspositionen live Tracking und elektronischer Schiffsmeldedienst - vesseltracker.com
and input the ship's name and/or IMO#

if the vessel is within range of the recievers, then you will get a results screen like this

noting the MMSI# and Callsign from this page, you can go to
Sailwx.info: Weather for Mariners
and visually track the vessel on the water.

the vesseltracker site also has a plugin to Google Earth which can also be used to visually track the vessel across the water.

when the vessel gets close to baltimore, you can go to one of the baltimore AIS sites like
PopularWireless Maryland AIS Ship Watcher's Map
to see vessels coming into and out of the harbor.
