Sorry to be such a pain, but how did you acquire the VIN#?

you get the VIN# from your assigned dealer - they get it typically when or soon after your "status" moves into "C - Confirmed" which means the configuration you specified is about to be built or is in the process of being built. the VIN# is assigned as one of the first steps in manufacture.

the first date in your DDE can be a good guide in determining your approx begin-manufacture date, especally after it's stopped moving every day... so when your DDE seems to stop moving, and you're getting close to that first date, that's the time to pick up the phone and call your dealer and request they check the J-Walk system for the R11 Specific Unit Details screen under your name to see if the status has changed to C and if a VIN# has been assigned. that same screen will also have an ETA approx 30 days in the future usually and you can use that ETA as your hypothetical delivery date and ignore the DDE from that point forward.

That's the best clarification I have seen in here since I joined, Thanks! My DDE starts July 26th so that's when I will call my dealer.

Interesting to note that your dde start was 4 days earlier then when your car was loaded. Mine dde was also 4 days before my car was loaded. One other curious thing- I thought VINs were sequential. Mine VIN (build ~ 4/20) ended with 144xxx, while yours was 139xxx......

that's odd?

For the past few days my opening DDE has been 4 days AFTER the current date, except today when it became 5 days after. I got my notification this afternoon that the vehicle has been shipped out of Bremerhaven. My VIN is WMEEJ31X58K169xxx. I have a black trid passion coupé coming with minimal options (pods, fogs). My assigned dealer is scVAB. Today is my 367th day since reserving (25 JUN 07) and the 123rd day since the 10-day window to C&C closed (24 MAR 08). After all the grump with the DDE's initiation date on 31 MAR, by 01 APR it went to 23 JUN + (exactly 120 days after 24 MAR) and has essentially dithered around that date throughout the whole time (today it was 21 JUN +).

Got my VIN from the dealer in March or April, but the DDE was not on line until April 1 (makes one wonder about the accuracy).

My first DDE result was different from what it gives now.

I spoke with the dealer last night, and was told it could be 1~2 weeks from Baltimore before arriving in Minnesota.

Reservation: April 2007
Confirmation (Configurator): December 2007
VIN: March or April 2008
DDE: 6/21/08 - 9/??
On the boat: 6/25/08
Delivery: TBD
