Well, Like Homer Simpson says, "What're 'ya gonna do?" If it was a farmers calf at least we could sue the farmer. But since it's a wild animal all we can really do is complain and make jerky. Oh, and keep buying cars.

I guess misery loves company. Anyway, another 2 weeks have gone by and still no email. I'll call tomorrow and find out which song and dance I'll get this time. Or maybe there will be an email inviting me to configure my order....! Who knows!

Resv #1380 - October 12, 2007 - got email to confirm on 4/28/08. DDE states Jan to Mar 09. Went into dealer to find out if this means it will be a 2009. She said no. Smart runs calendar year, and cars delivered in Jan and Feb will be 2008's. Concerned paying premium price for a previous year. Is anyone else concerned with this?

i take it you're from JOhnson COunty KansaS? what dealer told you this? should this be accurate, it changes ALOT of issues regarding new model years, asking to 'reconfigure', etc....

We already have established and JPaul semi confirmed that the Hambach smart facility follows most major manufacturers with Model Year change over some time in July ~ August every year..... We also have the historical fact that the first 451s as 2007 models were delivered in Sept of 2007 so that supports the theory

From this I assume that any DDE estimating Late Sept 08~Mid Oct 08 or later is most likely a 2009 model car... but some of that depends a lot on the typical transit time for LAST 08 models built in July~Aug before the change over

I agree with Fredvon4. I think that we are in a phase where smart is in the process of making the change over to the 2009 model year. I don't think think there will be any configuring done in the next week or two. If there are some they will have to be redone in the next few weeks. Smart is busy deciding what to change if anything on the car and how much more they will charge us for the new model. This will be interesting!

The dealer that told me Smarts were calendar year was the dealer in Merriam, KS. And yes, we live in Johnson County, KS...
