Everyone talks about #s on here so it was beginning to get to me. I was really getting confused. I thought people who confirmed were the ones getting reservation #s and that's why I was wondering why on earth had I not received one. I'm still going to call them for piece of mind. I'm glad I posted this thread, it sure has shed some light for me.

I think we put a lot of importance on the number because that is all some of us have, but when it comes down to it we will not get our car until we get it.

The number gives an idea of where in the waiting line we are, but the number does not control the order we ge tthe car in due to the fact that smart is spreading the cars out across the country so a dealer with few reservations will move through the numbers quicker than a dealer like mine with 1400 reservations and no real hope of getting 100 + cars a month (and my number does not tell me where in the line of 1400 that I am at).

I checked my email messages and have one identical to the one you posted here - however this was the 2nd email I received after reserving (this one came from customer-service@ib-smart.net). It arrived 7 days after my reservation.

The first email I received arrived the same day I reserved and came from noreply@smartusa.com and starts off:

"Thank you for your smart fortwo reservation. Your confirmation number is XXXXXX1324."

It then goes on to list my name, driver's license, address, phone, email and the preferred model and colors.

Double check your inbox for this earlier message.

BTW: both of these messages were sent with "Low importance"!!

Thanks for the information regarding the registration conformation number. I was not aware what this number was but it looks as if my # is 1474. That means I still have quite a wait. This forum is great to answer questions you never knew you had.

This is the only one I ever received. Ever since I reserved I even check the bulk mail just to be sure nothing is dumped there by accident. It's really weird.

The e-mail confirmation came immediately after charging your credit card. You were also given the opportunity to print your confirmation that came up on the computer screen. I saved it to my desktop and it just shows your registration number, your personal information, basic car and color choices, and then it goes on with the "this is not an offer to sell..." etc. etc..

I have a 1411 reservation so I have a long wait too. However, I think the dealership can find you in the database if you have your number. I went to test drive the car and they asked me for the number which I did not have accessible at the time. I didn't need them to tell me the obvious as it's going to be hard enough waiting.

I did not receive the numbered confirmation, only the first one. Dropped into a dealer today to get on the orphan list. They had almost a 1 year backlog and told me to figure I'd get the car one year from the month I put down my deposit-October. *groan*

If Smart would just be better at giving out more info I think this would all be less frustrating. I am so glad I joined this forum. The info from everyone on here as been so helpful.
