Computer Error RE: Confirmations/Configurations

YESTERDAY (4/15/08) i was told by Bob Wilshaw from Smart USA that a number of people who have 'reserved' during the past month or so may have been 'confirmed and configured' in error.

apparently there was a computer glitch that allowed many people to 'confirm' only a few days or so after they had placed their reservation. he wanted me to know that they are working on that issue and those that were 'confirmed' in error will be contacted in the near future, once they have the problem solved.

so, any of you that have 'reserved' your Smart and were 'confirmed' soon there after may be getting an email from Smart saying "sorry, but....."

not sure if i was to pass that info on to you, but he didn't say NOT to, so there it is........

That explains a number of configurations that have been posted with high reservation numbers. I would suspect there are some other "glitches" in the DDE system based on some of the dates it's giving. It will be nice when they get the system to work properly for those who are anxiously waiting.

yea.....me too. that's why i contacted Dave Schembri's office. Jennifer put me in contact with Bob Wilshaw. sorry, can't remember his "title".

i had seen on the forum where someone had 'reserved' the week after i did (i'm a '1536' and he's a '1541') and HE was 'invited' to confirm and configure within that week. WOW!

while i'm fully aware the 'system' is not working at it's best, i'm still willing to go along with it for now and see where it takes me. if i can have the car that i want to ORDER in 12-18 months, that's cool with me. will waiting be a *****? YEP!!! but i'll deal with it. i'm hoping to pick up an orphan for the wife sooner.......we'll see.

anyway, i have to admit that i was really impressed with Mr Wilshaw and that in between flights yesterday, he took time out to call me THREE TIMES and left messages. i finally was able to speak with him after the 3rd call. like i said, for him to take time out of his schedule to call ME? well, he's got my support!!!

I actually called smart to insure that they got my configuration and they told me just what I ordered so I am sure I am covered.

Yea, I'm 1541 (Way High) I didn't configure...I'm on an orphan list and already getting calls, I'm prolly going to bail on my reservation before I configure.

the '1541' i referenced was in Northern Indiana, so i just figured that he was 'configured' before me due to his Zip Code and the lack of orders coming in from that area.

guess i was wrong......damn, THAT never happens!;)

That would explain a lot, sort of like the reservation system losing some reservations the first day in March 2007...
My DDE (for smart #2, a 1470) has only moved up from Aug.-Oct. 2009 to July-Sept. 2009. At least I'm not getting the wild swings others have...

Merc...I am in Texas and DDE for my (not yet configured #2 order) 1470 has held steady at Dec 08 to Feb 09

So perhaps things will shake out properly now. I'll wait and see...Was Bob Wilshaw able to tell you where the bottom actually was re: reservation numbers? No one in customer service has any information.
