From config to dealer call

Hi guys,

I've been lurking around in the forums for a while now and finally decided to post.

I made my reservation back in 07/08/07 was finally able to config on March 25. I was just wondering, how long did it take from config to the dealer actually contacting you?

I would say 3 months or so to get the 90day call/email.

What happens on the call?

I can't give you any information on a call as I haven't yet received one. I did just receive an e-mail stating that my smart was being built and that it will be at my dealer; IN THE COMING MONTHS. Their words. Here is my rundown.
Reservation; Sunday April 15, 2007
Confirmation; Monday November 26,2007
e-mail; Friday April 11,2008
I've been hanging on just to see how long this thing would drag out, and drag out it has. I'm going to wait for the call and then cancel my reservation. I have had more than enough of this ridiculous situation.
If the cars had been available at the time the reservation was made I would probably be driving one today, and from what I read here possibly not enjoying the experience. I am thankful, in a way, that this ordeal has given me time to read the comments of owners, good and bad and it has helped me make my decision to cancel. When I get the call I will add to this and also let you know where you might pick up a Red/Black Passion orphan.

There is more than one thread that should help you ** look at the stickies on the subject. Many of us have posted our dates (eg I configured n 12/5; never got a 30-day notice but did get the car on April 10, so almost 4 months from configure to delivery).

You will also note significant variations on this rough estimate. Many who configured before me have not received their cars yet. It seems to relate to location and model to some degree.

The DDE has been giving 3 month windows for those that are within a certain delivery range. My orig reservation shows Dec 08 to Feb 09. Quite a while from the May 07 Res and March 08 Config.

The estimator shows a 90 day window, and mine has moved twice. Was march - june, now april to july.
