DDE arrival for 09 model

I just left the Lake Bluff Il dealer and he said that he thought that I will be getting an 08. I reserved 2/4/08 and confirmed around 4/25/08. He said the model year goes from january to january. I read that the new model year starts after their summer shut down in august. Has anyone heard for sure when the new model year really comes out? Thanks

i had read that on here as well, that smart model years run from January to December.

but we'll have to take into consideration that they will have to start production on the new model year cars a couple months in advance in order to have them shipped and delivered to the dealers in January.

if you add that to the fact we have to configure several months before production begins, based on what your dealer told you, i'm 'guessing' that anyone configuring from May or so will be doing it for an '09.

maybe they're using May 1 as a 'cut off date'? again, pure speculation on my part......

interesting fact: you reserved your car in February of 2008 and configured in April 2008 and have been told you will STILL have an '08. what does the DDE say? i reserved a month later than you (March 08) and have yet to configure, yet my DDE says "Sept-Nov 2009"!!!

I, too, am wondering about that. I reserved in March of '08 and the DDE for mine basically says I'm a loser. I guess I should be ok with that since I'm hopeful that the '09's will have a wider variety of color options and cruise control.
I feel extremely fortunate that I got an orphan out of Lincolnwood, but I have every intention of selling it when the car that I configure becomes available.

My DDE says a delivery of feb to april 09. It moved up one month. It was march to may of 09 about two weeks ago.

man, i could only WISH i could get mine in Feb-Apr 2009. can't believe that less than 45 days difference in the reserve dates leads to 7 MONTHS difference in the DDE. WOW!

just curious....what did you order? Passion? Cabriolet? colors?

I deposited 11-07.
Number is 1407.
Before the DDE issued stement I would get delivery in Sept. 08.
After DDE now it indicates 8-09.

I went to Lincolnwood in March, drove one and the guy said maybe by July 08.

What number did you have?

I'm in Oklahoma. I think each region is different but this site does help to keep things in perspective if you keep looking around. I'm an 1186, reserved 4/1/2007, configured in early November. DDE now shows May-August, was April-July when they first activated the DDE. I've stayed in touch with the Dealership and as of Friday they say I have a 6/3 delivery...requested a Vin but no # yet. Hang in there...that's what I keep being told. rjw53 looks like his region is moving along and looking pretty darn lucky to me with his configuration at this point.

My conformation #is 1495. Don't get me wrong I am happy that I am getting the car but I was hoping to get an 09. If I get it in november that would kind of suck because I am buying a year old car just before the 09 model arrives.
