Could work out that way....only way to know is to get responses from members from both dealerships to compare rezo to delivery times...OR you could spend an extra $99, and reserve in BOTH area codes (using a second email address, of course) and just wait to see which one is faster....then get a refund for the slower of the two. The would be the sure way to go!

I sure would do that if i could do it again. I love how my DDE changes on Mondays. Today i got up and WOW - moved out another 5 days! Creeps out one day at a time on the week days and jumps 5 on Mondays. I am SO tired of this game. Ordered on May 22 2007 and configured on Dec 14 2007. When you try to tell yourself it can't be much longer--then here we go again! Good luck to all who are waiting too! We need it! I really think every time i e-mail Smart USA or my dealer i get my date moved out! I better leave these folks along! Have a Great Day! Carol

Amazing isn't it. I reserved May 11, 2007 and confirmed Jan 2, 2008. In the last week and a half the DDE has moved me backwards over 2 weeks. I was at June 15 to Aug 17. Today I am at July 4 to Sept 5. I still think the problem isn't too many orders, but lack of Mercedes commitment to the US market for the smart.
Is there any other country where a private importer is in charge instead of Mercedes?

I'm in the same boat. My DDE started to change a couple of weeks ago. It was 22June for a long time, then went to 3 July. After a couple of days, it went back to 28 June. Now it is the 4th of July. It is getting pretty frustrating.

DDE or not

I reserved last May (as I remember) and my DDE is reading 5/21/08 - 8/19/08. But my car came in last Thursday (19 June). Go figure. I picked it up tonight, it's sitting in the driveway, and the DDE still reads May - Aug. Guess the allocations depend on the volume the dealer is doing or is expected to do - like any other car company. Allocations based on sales or, in this case, reservations in their area.

Find a high-volume dealership and you may have a better chance of seeing a car earlier, or adopt an oprhan.

No. It's just some area's have more dealerships than others. Like NY/NJ has several as does southern CA. By contrast the Dallas dealership is serving a larger area. I believe they still serve southern OK, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas. At one point even serving western TN though that should be covered now by the Knoxville {eastern TN} dealership. It doesn't have anything to do with "high volume." The reason us in DFW are waiting so long is they're trying to evenly distribute the vehicles amongst the US dealerships. Thus why some only have an 8 or 9 month wait while I have to wait almost 2 years.

Now two months since I reserved and the DDE still says "Your vehicle delivery date cannot be estimated at this time." Frustrating.

yeah, i have 3 reservations now (one each in mo, pa, and oh). i reserved in may, june, late june, respectively. i went ahead and did this so i can get the quickest delivery of the three. i just used 3 different addresses (family) and 3 emails. seems to be no problem although none have a dde yet. when i can come up with more addresses, ill reserve more and may considering selling them for a quick buck if people are still willing to pay over msrp.
