Dealer contacts

Well its January, so presumably the next step after online confirmation, will be the dealer contacting you. So....when that happens - that is, when your dealer contacts you (and not the other way around) to finalize your order, post it here (along with all of the details) Thanks!

(and perhaps make this a sticky?)

the most important tidbits to post are:

smartcenter
reservation date (ie, 3/19) and/or number (1173)
confirmation invite email date (8/27)
confirmation date
(date you confirmed, as this will most likely be days or even a week after invite)

Contacted my Dealer

I was doing a Google search for "smart car" and the first hit was from my local MB dealer that advertised that they are accepting orders for Smart cars. Since I have a reservation, I gave them a call about it. I drove the Smart in Tampa when the traveling show came to town. I was told that my contact information would be turned over to my local dealer. The salesman on the other end of the phone said that Smart did forward my name and number and that I will be recieving a Smart. As soon as their showroom construction is finished, Smart will ship them cars. The dealer is Lokey MB in Clearwater, Fl. The salesman also told me that they have at least 200 cars coming in.

When I spoke to the Smart Rep at the road show, he explained the reservation program to me. Each dealer will receive "x" amount of cars (275?). The reservation distribution is localized. Meaning, if the dealer has 275 cars and your area only has 200 reservations, no matter what your reservation number is-you will get a car. They will not ship car around the country just because you have a low reservation number. The cars shipped to the dealers will be sold at the dealership (provided they have buyers).

I spoke with my MB/Smart dealer today and he said that the above quote is definitely NOT true.
He said he'd let me know my specifics tomorrow
