It is just unbelievable. Configured November 26, 2007. I now have a vin no. and know the car has been long produced yet Crystal tells me that my ETA date has been pushed back to July 2008. Just does not add up.

I just checked mine. I was told by dealer that my car was shipped. Originally my DDE was 3/24/08 to 6/22/08. NOW it says 6/7/08 to 9/5/08. To see if this is a consistent thing, I punched in the e-mails for 2 of my friends that reserved after me whose original DDE was 7/5/08-10/3/08. Their DDE's did NOT change. I am seriously concerned now and am calling Smart to see what has happened. I'm wondering if this has to do with the transmission/shifter problems I'm reading about on the forum. I wonder if they recalled all these March/April deliveries.

I posted this on another thread but thought it was appropriate for this one as well. I was lucky and got a great orphan and LOVE the car. I decided to keep my reservation as well. I've been very curious about how long it'd take for my ordered car to get here. Here's my stats:

Reserved on March 30, 2007, #1184
Confirmed on November 14, 2007
45 - 60 notice Feb 27, 2008 and have a VIN # for the vehicle

The original DDE said March 24 - June 30 (I checked on 4/1)
I checked again today and now it's June 1 - August 30!

If I didn't have an orphan already I think I would have just lost it! The dates don't seem to mean anything nor can you project when your car will get here based on when you confirm or even get the 45 - 60 notice. The reservation system really needs to be fixed! The best advice I have is get on the orphan list or just accept that you'll have your car when it gets here and that you can't predict when that'll be.

I'll be waiting it out, however, the unknown really is a drag. You get your hopes up and then smashed. However, IF this is due to mechanical flaws (the bad transmissions and shifters) then I would rather wait and get the car in a state where it doesn't have to go back to the dealer immediately. I think Smart at least should be upfront about that stuff and communicate to their reservation holders if there is a delay for those reasons. I already e-mailed them today to express my disappointment. I've experienced bad communication on both ends—from Smart USA and the dealer. Tomorrow I'm going to call the dealer and see if I can get them to tell me what's going on.

In the same boat. A 1183 who got the call. Then nothing. After the 30 days called to reconfirm and they lost the car. Maybe May. Maybe July.

Contacted smart usa about frustrations in regards to communications. One of the VPs said that the area sales manager would be calling. That was a week ago. Funny way to resolve the frustration of somebody who is complaining about a lack of communication.

We are about to give up and put another orphan out onto the street. When things are this bad when they want to take your money can you imagine what service will be like?

Sorry to be so negative but other than the few happy campers who got thier cars the rest has been a rather negative experience.

Funny, Mine shows up completely, but is covering the writinig on the gray bar at the bottom.
