I received a response from dealer. My car is shipped or waiting to be shipped. The ETA is now JULY. Absolutely no indication as to why it is now July when it was April. Mind you—when I reserved (4/3) I got the "first half of 2008" as expected delivery. Well... apparently that's not the case. I'm trying to maintain my composure at the moment. So for those of you that keep getting a different answer from the DDE, be forewarned that if it's pushed out you may be in for the same frustration level I am currently experiencing. If your not getting responses it's because they don't want to tell you the bad news.

The only issue I do see is whether the car ACTUALLY made it on this ship, as the VIN number shows this but IS tied to the 'voyage' listed above:

Ive kind of just givin up hope at this point with this smar car deal.
Im going to hang on to my reservation until whenver the car comes in. Tired of fighting it and tired of getting myself pissed off reading this board and everyones frustration which are all justified. Nothing seems to have changed from the DDE launch for me. Seems to have gotten worse for others. I feel bad about this car, this company and its launch. Sure wish there was better communication about what is the major malfunction, delays, orphans, production, reservation system, DDE etc.

I think I said I wouldn't say anything more. However, I think you pretty much said it all for me as well. I just drilled the dealer delivery specialists with questions. Now their response is that there may be a "glitch" with the local estimator and they'll let me know when they have a more accurate data. That takes me back to square one. Knowing absolutely nothing.

The DDE window/button (the picture of the blue/silver in what appears to be Times Square, on the bottom left of the home page) does now show completely: one can now see its name in full.

Schmimbo you captured it all. Over a week ago I sent a letter to Ken Kettenbeil, Director of Communications for smart. Just like you, all I wanted was better communication and a straight answer. He stated that he would have the regional manager, Jim Parsons contact me. That was over a week ago. You would think that with communications as my primary concern somebody would have called by now. I guess they are too busy. Not one word.

Last weekend we started to search for a different car. There may soon be another orphan let loose on the street. I would venture to guess by the end of the summer you would be able to walk up to any smart dealer and cars will be waiting. After all, it is the earliest supporters that they are burning right now. The more casual late-comer would never have this kind of patience.

OK here is my 2 cents worth #1236 configed 12/21/07 est date 4/11/08 to 7/11/08 called smart ask what did they know well they knew somthing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! car is built and in shipping sooner than later well lets see.at this point im alittle untrusting

My car was on the same ship and when I checked the system this morning it is now updated and showing that it was off-loaded in baltimore yesterday

Yesterday the DDE for my smart said 6/08 -9/08. Today it says 1/08 - 4/08. That is great news if it is true - No idea what is going on with the DDE but when the dealer called 3 weeks ago they said my car will be delivered in April, in line with what the DDE says today. Who knows - it could change again...
